Faithful Friend
Were you really that maddening pup
Who rampaged through our home?
You chased the cat and chewed my shoes
You even ate a comb.
And then you started training hard
Your puppy days were past
You learned to sit, to find and fetch
You grew up very fast.
With head held high, eyes alert
You waited for commands
To help and find lost lambs and sheeps
Amongst these rough moorlands.
Just now you're lying warm and snug
With a basket and a bone
You're busier than you've ever been
With four pups of your own.
