+Living Life God's Way+ 2/13/2003 http://livinglifegodsway.com When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. Psalm 94.19 God is our comforter, sustainer, and Lord. Only his gracious presence and tender blessings can bring consolation ad comfort to our restless and discouraged souls. So let's turn to him, honestly confessing both our sins and our sorrows. Let's ask him to take our anxiety away and restore to us our passion, the joy, and the confidence of our salvation. Those of you who wear contacts will appreciate this: a saline solution that allows you to clean your contacts without rubbing them. The tag line, "No Rub" Saline. This is great, it saves me time at night. All of the cleaning is done by the solution, not by anything I do. As Christians, this is a great analogy for our lives. We have been cleaned completely through the finished work of Jesus Christ, apart from any doing of our own. Through his death and resurrection, He had imputed upon us, His righteousness. However, we continue to try and fight sin with our own strength, failing time and time again. When this happens we take our eyes off Jesus, our guilt consumes us, and we get tired. Yet we determine to overcome next time, failing once again. It often seems like an endless cycle and this is exactly what Satan wants. However, we should realize that there is a "No Rub" solution to this. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Paul writes, "And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." You see, when we realize our own efforts to overcome sin always result in failure, Christ will show us that He alone can prevail for us. When we surrender them to Christ, He gives us the victory. 1 Corinthians 15:57: "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." Christ has already won the battle for us. He alone is our "No Rub" solution. Derek DuRoss _____________________________________________________ |
