Forbidden Fruit
When man was placed in Eden’s bowl He was given woman to comfort his soul But to that place came an evil snake To upset life and fellowship break
Adam and Eve may have lived forever If they were not beguiled by Satan’s shiver And took a bight from fruit forgiven Then saw the need for nakedness hidden
The snake was cursed and bound to crawl Through the dust on bellies wall And to ever be at odds and ends With all who from Eve descend!
Then Eve was given much pain to bear From when she to Adam drew very near And he was sent the ground to toil That had been by thistle spoiled.
