Sinner to Saint
Luke 5:27-32
The most hated of men in days of old
And also today if the truth is told
Are those who sit with power of the state
Collecting taxes where people congregate
In guarded booths at the city gate
Often imposing an unfair rate.
Now of these despised and hated men
Jesus called Levi to join His den
Straight way he forsook his wicked ways
And joined the party �?O happy days
But at his inaugural welcome feast
The Pharisees looked down their noses at this the least
They queried Jesus why He should eat
With dreadful sinners and this dead-beat
He gave to them this amazing reply
Saying the doctor comes for those who cry
And when Levi with Jesus sought His peace
He rose to the disciple whose words don’t cease
To give God the glory in the book he wrote
Levi and Matthew are one please note.
