Mesh Onion Hanger
Description
This is a simple, quick and practical craft for your kitchen. For a more decorative look even if it is only on a temporary basis you could make a wreath using variations with types of onions or garlic you have on hand. Another possibility is to braid three lengths of garlic buds together that have been secured by knots in the mesh of a bath scrubby. Interlock the buds where they are knotted at the base. Add bows or flowers at the bottom and the top as well as in between each onion of the straight onion hanger. For the wreath and the braid flowers or bows could be added at the top of each arrangement.

scissors Supply | Quantity | Size | bath scrubby | 1 | | onion(s) | | | ribbon | | | dish detergent | | | | | Step By Step Instructions 1. Separate the scrubby at the middle where it is tied. Look for the thick cord and untie it. 2. Unravel the scrubby. 3. Wash and rinse the scrubby thoroughly in the sink with dish detergent and water. 4. Let dry thoroughly. 5. Knot off a loop in the top of the mesh and tie the thick cord from the scrubby through it and knot it a few times to secure. The ends of this will be used to tie the mesh onion hanger to the place where you have chosen to hang it in your kitchen. 6. Decide how long you want your onion hanger to be and cut off the piece of mesh from the scrubby. Remember you will be tying knots in the middle of each onion so you have to allow for this. Your other alternative is to tie the number of onions you want to use into the mesh, tie a strong knot in the end then cut off the excess. 7. To decorate your mesh onion hanger tie on a ribbon bow at the top, attach flowers or bows with the glue gun to the knots in between the onions as well as at the top and the bottom. You could also thread the mesh through wood or coloured glass disks (in decorative shapes) with holes in the center like beads. After you have added an onion, slip on a disk, tie a knot below the disk and continue the process with the next onion. | | |
