Cinnamon Stick Wreath

From: ksks.essortment.com

Supplies:
1-2 lbs of cinnamon sticks & pieces
straw wreath form (10-12 inches)
hot glue gun
glue sticks
wire, 20 gauge
dried fruits (optional)

Before you start making your wreath, begin by separating the cinnamon sticks according to size. If some are too long for the wreath you can break them into smaller pieces.

Starting at the top of the wreath, glue the larger pieces at an angle or vertically all around the wreath (not the backside, of course). You do this to cover the straw wreath. This is now your base on which you will add the rest of the cinnamon. Using assorted sizes of the cinnamon sticks, glue & stack the cinnamon sticks on top of the cinnamon base. Be sure to go around the entire wreath to make it somewhat even in depth.

At this point, if you so desire, you can add some dried apples, oranges, etc. An idea would be to glue the dried fruit in a cluster at the top of the wreath with some extra long cinnamon sticks going through them horizontally. You can then add a small bow. Or you could wrap a wide ribbon around the entire wreath & wire a nice bow in the bottom right corner of the wreath. Hang in your kitchen & enjoy the scent of cinnamon everyday. If the scent fades, you can apply some cinnamon oil to the wreath to freshen it.

Notes:
- Cinnamon sticks can be used in many other crafts as well. Tie several mini bundles of five or six cinnamon sticks together with a thin, flexible floral wire. These bundles can then be attached to an evergreen wreath. Arrange them all around the wreath. In addition you can add some fake berries, false fruit, some baby's breath, or even some pine cones. A nice bow always finishes off a wreath quite nicely.

- Another use for cinnamon sticks is also a gift idea. These make great teacher gifts or to give as party favors. Using a thin, flexible floral wire, wrap a bundle of five cinnamon sticks together & also use a bit of hot glue to help hold them together better. Select some tiny flowers
, such as baby's breath & glue them on top of the cinnamon sticks. Tie a ribbon around the bundle & glue a ribbon loop to make it suitable for hanging.

- Cinnamon sticks aren't just for cooking anymore!
