Ok, this one鈥檚 tough. I know there鈥檚 a bunch of you out there who love the math type puzzles, and this one鈥檚 going to be hard to crack:

The 400 soldiers of the 7th company are ready to march. They form a square of 20 meters x 20 meters.
Their mascot, a german shepherd dog, stands in the middle of the front line.
The 7th company starts to march at constant speed, and the mascot starts to walk the perimeter of the company clockwise at constant speed at the same time.
The dog is trained in such a way that, when the company has marched 20 meters, the mascot has walked the perimeter completely and is back in the middle of the front line.
The soldiers have marched 20 meters but, what is the distance the dog has walked?

Well honestly I wouldn't have had a clue but when I saw Reb's answer I thought it was a box that's 20 x 20 so four sides to total 120.  Well that was my logic but now that I type that out it adds up to 80. LOL

You've got to factor in the diagonals - when the platoon is marching forward, and the dog is walking across the front or the back of the platoon, he won't be walking a straight line...in order to stay an equal distance from the platoon, he will be walking a diagonal line.

I can picture how to solve it in my head, but can't do all the math right now....you have to figure in the old right triangle formula.....once I'm done with these quarter-end schedules, I'll do the calcs.
