Without You

Without you my son would not be free
To live life the way it is supposed to be

Suffering and pain would be the norm
Like the heat that comes with a desert storm

Darkness would enter, fear would win
The desires of a madman to feed his whim

I f never you stood at the gates of hell
To watch and protect our people well

A nation sick over death and destruction
Might lead to our fall because we can’t function

But there you stand, a force of one
That looks into the barrel of the gun

And makes it known you will not back down
Your heads held high, you stand your ground

The pride for you I have in me
Comes from your strength and bravery

You’ve given your country your very life
Left your home and family and your wife

To venture to a land unknown
And stand and face the foe alone

What can I give to show my thanks
To you this force of many ranks

My gift to you has the greatest worth
My son, a free man, at his birth
