Angels In My Life
There have been angels in my life,
While they haven't arrived with a blast of trumpets
Or a rustle of wings,
I've known them just the same.

They performed their acts in human guise,
Sometimes borrowing the faces of family and friends,
Sometimes in the form of a stranger lending a hand.

You have known them, too,
When just the right word was needed,
When a tiny act of kindness made a great difference.

Or perhaps you heard a voice whispering in the night of
sorrow. The words not quite clear but the
meaning unmistakable:
"There is hope, There is hope."

May your angels watch over you
And always keep you safe
And whisper in your ear
To banish hate and fear.

I Refuse To Be Discouraged

 I refuse to be discouraged,
To be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted,
and here's the reason why . . .

I have a God who's mighty,
Who's sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me,
and I am on His team.

He is all wise and powerful,
Jesus is His name;
Though everything is changeable,
My God remains the same.

My God knows all that's happening;
Beginning to the end,
His presence is my comfort,
He is my dearest friend.

When sickness comes to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God;
Into His arms I go.

When circumstances threaten
to rob me from my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast,
Where all my strivings cease.

And when my heart melts within me,
and weakness takes control;
He gathers me into His arms,
He soothes my heart and soul.

The great "I AM" is with me,
My life is in His hand,
The "Son of the Lord" is my hope,
It's in His strength I stand.

I refuse to be defeated,
My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me,
as through this life I trod.

I'm looking past all my circumstances,
To Heaven's throne above;
My prayers have reached the heart of God,
I'm resting in His love.

I give God thanks in everything,
My eyes are on His face;
The battle's His, the victory is mine;
He'll help me win the race.

SOMETIMES

We must be hurt in order to grow;
We must fail in order to know,
We must lose in order to gain.
Some lessons are learned best

Only through pain.

Sometimes...

Our vision clears
Only after our eyes are
Washed with tears.

Sometimes...

We have to be broken,
So we can be tender,
Sick so we can rest and think better;
On things more important Than work or fun;
Trip near death, so
We can assess how we've run.

Sometimes...

We have to suffer lack,
So we can know God's provision,
Feel another's pain,
So we can have a sense of mission.

So take heart, my friend,
If you don't understand today,
Instead of grumbling,
Ask God what He means to say,
In order to learn you must endure,
And learn to see the bigger picture.

In order to grow, you must stand;
Look beyond the hurt
To God's loving hand
That takes what is good,
And gives what is best,
And on this blessed thought, rest:

As your anxious heart,
With questions, waits,
God's hand only gives
What His loving heart dictates.

Sometimes the Lord calms the storm;
Sometimes He lets the storm rage...
And calms His child.
Better the storm with Christ...
Than smooth waters without Him.

ANGEL'S HUG

As I grew up, I wondered
About so many things.
I wondered where the winds come from
And how the small bee stings.

I also wondered, if God lived.
And if so, where He stayed.
I wondered where He bought His food.
And if so, what He paid.

I wondered if He really lived.
And, did He care for me?
I wondered if He watched my life
And just how that could be.

Now that many years have passed.
I've learned some things, at last;
Things about the birds and bees.
I learned them pretty fast.

For some other things, I had to search
To find the illusive truth.
And although to me they finally came,

'Twas long past my youth.
I learned, through my experiences,
That 'yes, God really lives'.
He loves and cares and hears my prayers.
Answers He always gives.

I've learned His angels are around.
They've come to comfort me.
They've shared with me our Father's love.
The truth they've helped me see.

These angels are His messengers.
They're sent with His great love.
They're all around us every day.
They're not just up above.

So when you feel that warmth inside,
When trials come your way ...
It's probably an Angel's hug.
Be grateful as you pray.

The value of time

To realize The value of a sister:
Ask someone who doesn't have one.

To realize The value of ten years:
Ask a newly divorced couple.

To realize the value of four years:
Ask a graduate.

To realize the value of one year:
Ask a student who has failed a final exam.

To realize the value of nine months:
Ask a mother who gave birth to a still born.

To realize the value of one month:
Ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of one week:
Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of one hour:
Ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of one minute:
Ask a person who has missed the train, bus or plane.

To realize the value of one second:
Ask a person who has survived an accident.

To realize the value of one millisecond:
Ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.

To realize the value of a friend:
Lose one.

Time waits for no one.
Treasure every moment you have.

You will treasure it even more when you can
share it with someone special.

During My Life's Journey

During my life journey on this planet
I shall start each day with these affirmations:
I am capable. I am worthwhile.
I am beautiful. I am lovable.
I shall accept both my strengths
and my weaknesses for they are me.
I shall never again believe the "lie"
that if I make a mistake,
I am a mistake.
My mistakes are the learning tools
that I shall encounter on my life journey.
When I learn from my mistakes,
I give them meaning.
When I give my mistakes meaning,
I can begin to forgive myself,
I can begin to heal.
I shall not use my mistakes as excuses
to give up on me -
my mistakes are not me.
I shall seek the wisdom to nurture
my heart, mind, body, and soul
so that I may feel more centered
- providing an energy reserve that allows
me to climb the mountains in my own life
- providing an energy reserve that allows
me to love and support others
who are climbing a different mountain
- providing an energy reserve that allows
time for friends, play,
and celebration of life.
I shall allow myself to feel capable
- so that I may seek excellence.
I shall allow myself to feel sadness
- so that joy may return.
I shall allow myself to feel joy
- so that I may be revitalized.
I shall allow myself to feel afraid
- so that I may find courage.
I shall allow myself to feel alone
- so that I may know me.
I shall allow myself to feel beautiful
- so that I may feel free.
I shall allow myself to feel lovable
- so that the loving may seek me.
I shall allow myself to feel pain
- so that I may heal.
I shall allow myself to feel worthy
- so that I may fulfill my purpose.
When I am centered, I see the perfection
in the world, myself and others.
When I find the world to be imperfect,
I will take responsibility
for painting it that way.
I will look into the heart of a rose,
or the eyes of a newborn baby
and again know perfection.
I take responsibility
for creating my own life story
through the choices I have made;
to blame others is to give away
my personal power.
Who will I allow to write
the next chapter of my life?
I shall seek the courage to believe
in a God who will laugh with me in the sunlight
or cry with me in the darkness.
I shall make a small difference on this planet
through the work I do -
when I leave I will have done my share.
I shall live, love, laugh,
and learn on my journey.
