I'm bored this morning.  Got to stay around the office waiting for a conference call and am all caught up.  So I was thinking about vacation.

Give it to us in any format...best as a child, best with kids, best with spouse, whatever...

My best as a kid....Disneyland.  The drive took us about 7 hours, so we would get to sleep in the car the night before and Dad would take off about 2 AM.  We'd wake up and have about an hours drive left and kept loooking for the Materhorn.

Best as a Teenager...After graduating High School, 2 of my friends and I decided to put off college for a semester. So we worked all summer and saved all our money.  On Sept. 8th we took off and drove AROUND the United States.  California to Virginia, then to Florida, back through Louisiana, up to Tennessee, through Texas and back to California.  We'd pull of the highway someplace and lay out our sleeping bags. Took us about a month and a half and met loads of people.  After being in California for a week we went to Baja California for a week and built a Kitchen for a Deaf School.  Great Great memories.

As an Adult....Loading up the family and driving to Idaho.  Took the kids, the Dog and Grandma too.  Pulled our boat and camped on the way up and did some water skiing and fishing, visited with the OTHER Grandma and Grandpa and did the same going back.

Anybody else?

OH vacations.....sorry Tex.....my favorite place would be Tenneesee.  I love the mountains and the people are awsome.  So much friendlier than up north here!  And so laid back.  I've been trying to get there once a year...won't be able to this year.

Conference call complete!!!

now,  Cindylouhoo3 and Tye...  Guys are jerks?  you don't have to tell me!
Most men KNOW that lots of men are jerks. We also know that not ALL of them are.

IMHO, Todays values will produce a whole lot MORE jerks.  you all now that old saying about buying the cow when you can get the milk for free right?  Well, with themilk being served so freely today, a guy just can't handle both the good fortune and responsibility it requires,  when it is time to learn how to treat a lady right.

I've been counseling my 2 girls on this since they got interested in dating.  they don't take any Crap from a guy who shows them any kind of disrespect.  A lot have tried and lost any chance of taking them out. The GIRLS decision.  My wife says it's because I have shown them through OUR relationship how to treat a woman.  (blush blush), but wherever it comes from The guys better be sincere, polite and DECENT if they want a chance with my two.  And of course, theres always the fatherly interviews that will help weed out the really bad ones!

Oh yeah..Vacations.  Loved Tennessee when I went through there. Great story about Las Vegas, NM.  Except the ending!

Alas Cindylouhoo3,   I have yet to come out of the smitten state I entered 22 years ago when I met my then future wife.  I keep hearing about the "honeymoon being over"  period of life, but don't know when that might be.  I'll just have to keep you posted on that kind of thing.   you honor me with the comment and I appreciate the thought.

(bowing...I thank you!)

What's a "vacation" ? --- I'm married to a musician. I don't  think I've ever heard that word before now.

Tye, I just read your post.  That sounds like such a romantic trip.  I'm sorry you ended up with a broken heart.  I'm NOT going to tell you to move on and find someone else.  I never liked being given that advice myself.  When you are ready to love again, you'll know.   Hugs!!!!

cindylouhoo3, you're going to make me cry!  How romantic that he came to you the night before your wedding.  He obviously thinks you're very special!  What would it hurt to try to find out what he's doing now?  Stranger things have happened!  You must have a friend or two in common that can do some discreet checking.  Good luck!

Texoma, you are definitely Kiva Krews resident sensitive male.  How nice that you are still madly in love with your wife, and that you have raised your daughters to value themselves and expect men to do likewise.  Way to go!  It sounds like you have a very close, loving family.

Thank you AugustLeo.  you are right.  we are very close and very loving.  We have plenty of bruises and tears to prove it!

Like everyone, I'm sure, we struggled along the way.  But like they say, "that which does not kill you makes you stronger".  I think we learned from all the tough times what things we really valuable and realized...it was US!  So,  I am very proud of my family.

Thanks!

Well Augustleo it's one of those sad ol' songs....I'm not what I used to be.  Two babies, two surgeries, gray hair and middle age spread.  Scares me what he would think, although I know he wouldn't be what he was 26 yrs ago either.

I'll give it some more thought.  Maybe.  I'll really want to communicate with him.  It's gotten to be almost an obsession.  I need to chill.  It's probably just lonliness and rebounding.

Ahhhh to be young again!
