I know this is the "I need a new ...." thread but actually, I don't need anything. I didn't know where to put this. Just wanted to tell you that I finally caved in and bought myself a new camera. Haven't gotten it yet ... I bought it online last night from
www.buydig.com because they had the lowest price on the internet and they're well-respected. It's the Kodak DX 7440 and I got it for $255. I also added a 256MB digital card with it. They had a little accessory kit that you could buy with the DX7440 and I decided to buy it ... it comes with a 256MB card, a carrying case and a cleaning kit. I know, I know, not that exciting, and probably over-priced, but it was so convenient to just get everything at the same time.
And I compared that to amazon.com, where the camera was $285,
plus they would have charged me almost $13 in shipping and handling,
plus the camera itself would be shipped from Circuit City (!???) (oy),
plus the digital card that I wanted would be coming from J&R in New York (and then I would have had to pay TAXES),
plus the carrying case that I wanted (which was cheap), they didn't have in stock!!! and the one they did have in stock was about $23. So I said to myself, SELF: just get the camera from buydig.com. They have a good rep and I got everything I needed for a total of $315, no S&H and no taxes. I just have to wait a little longer to get the camera because they celebrate the Jewish holidays and they're closed until Sunday.
Sooooo ... here's a picture of the camera. It's the
Kodak EasyShare DX7440 4MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom
The thing that finally sold me on buying this particular camera is that I read that it has a fast shutter speed and I was getting frustrated with trying to take photos of my nephew and he would be somewhere else by the time the flash went off. Plus, I'm gonna have 4x Optical Zoom!! That's after having a dinky little digital camera that had no optical zoom. So that should be fun.
You know what finally got me motivated to buy a new camera? I was looking at my Central Park photos and I was kind of impressed with how great they were, if I must say so myself. Every time I would click on a file, I would say, "I took that??" haha. So then I got this urge to start taking photos again, but I knew I needed a nice camera, not that silly little Olympus D-100 that has no power.
Anyway, I'm psyched. And I don't feel like I broke the bank either, you know?
Yee-Haaa!
