Awwwww bless, what a nice welcome home. Yep I'm back after 5 loads of washing & ironing ewwwwwww It was warm and sunny & I have a tan for a change lol. Nothing spectacular but hey! Plane trip there was very smooth & on time YAY. Apart from painful ears I survived. Had a warm sunny week with loads of walking & some relaxing by the pool. Oh & of course loads of gin & tonics and food!!!
Last day was exciting to say the least. We saw someone we recognised while eating lunch. Turned out to be a british celeb. Then we walked round the corner on the way to feed the chipmunks that run wild down by the rocks. We saw a big crowd of people and realised there was a big rescue going on. Two men had been fishing on the rocks & the sea had cut them off. The police had been trying to rescue them with ropes etc for over an hour, but to no avail. The waves were huge & coming in fast. Fuerteventura is well known for being windy & is famous for water sports, so you can imagine. In the end the police started blowing whistles & moving us back, as they had called in the helicopter. My son got some video of it, which hubby is going to upload to Youtube.
Me & Mum were joking later that there had to be a third bit of excitement, as things come in threes right lol. We boarded the plane which was infact due to leave a bit early. There was a lady in a wheelchair who had boarded first. She appeared to have some sort of breathing problems maybe emphaceama. Anyway we took off & finally the seatbelt signs went off. All of a sudden this lady must have had some problems & the air steward was turning on the vents above her. Within seconds there was air steward/stewardesses running around like lunatics. They carried the lady into the front cabin crew section & pulled the curtain across. One ran out & grabbed the oxygen from a locker. Someone came from the back of a plane, who I think was a nurse & offered her assitance. The next minute there was absolute panic & one of the stewardesses ran back in for a defibrillator. They called over the load speaker to find out if there was a Dr on board but there wasnt. Of course you can imagine what happened next. On came the captain apologising, but told us that he had turned the plane round & we were on our way back to Fuerteventura. Talk about a rapid decent & then a rapid taxi to an awaiting ambulance. This was about 11pm at night by which time the airport terminal is closed. We were expecting to be taken off the plane & put in a hotel overnight, but luckily the pilot decided to keep us on the plane & refuel. We sat on the plane & the crew came round with cold water. My Mum said under her breath 'it should be alcohol not water' lmao. Finally at about 11.45 pm with two very tired boys & some very hot & bothered passengers, we took off again. We didnt get home until about 5.30am this morning & OMG my ears are still popping now OWIE!
