Good morning (or evening) to the group. It is 00.50 am here. This is Bill, letting you know how Annette has got on today.
We left home at 6.30 am and got to the hospital at 7.00 am. Annette went into surgery at 8.15 am and came out at 11.30 am. It was a long opertation but the surgeon rang me to say all had gone well and Annette was taken into the recovery room, coming back to her hospital room at aorund 12.45 pm.
She was very groggy and all wired up to all of the usual hospital gear, coming aound at about 3.00 pm.
Her knee is very sore and has a long incision, vertival rather than across as we had thought.
Good staff, pretty heplful and all trying to do what the surgeon wants. He came in to see her this afternoon and is very particular. He knows just what he wants done and what he doesn't, so she is in good hands.
I stayed until 7.30 pm and helped her have something to eat. Although she did not really want this, we thought it would be good to help get over the anaesthetic.
She will be in hosptail until Monday at least and in bed for the next few days. They may try her with some walking in a day or so, but the surgeon will say what he wants.
As I said, all seems to have gone well for her "under the circumstances" although the pain apparently really kicks in after all of the medications from the operation fully wear off.
She is still not 100% but did ask me to pass on to you all her good wishes and to say that she hopes to be back on-line begfore too long. I am not sure how she will be able to sit at a computer to start with but we will see.
She received two huge bunches of flowers and good wishes from all of the family, who hope to have her up and dancing by New Years Eve.
Sorry I can't do all of the fancy faces and things that Annette does!
Best wishes from Annette.
