Morning...oh, so, much to read and comment on but I have so little time right now.
Not going to do a Sweet and totally not appear on the 'pretext' of being too busy because I believe no matter how busy people are there is always time to spend five minutes saying hello and not causing people undue worry and concern. Which you did Sweet as I was beginning to think something absolutely awful had happened to you.

Sorry Sweet I dont wish to offend but I don't totally buy your reason for not being on LTAB for the reasons above but it is your perogative not to sign in for a very long time ie months for whatever your reasons. But as I said I was very very worried about you. It was a relief when you posted and I was so glad to see you are doing well and congratulations on your improved health and well being. I think it was avoiding Red's delicious talk about her fudge and cookies etc that really kept you away but then again I believe you probably read messages but didn't add.
Hmm....just debating whether to delete what I have put so far now I have got it off my chest as I seriously don't want to cause offence but I'm not the type of person to nod my head, smile politely and go along for the hell of it. I prefer to clear the air. Nope I shall keep it in.

I must congratulate you on keeping Red company Sweet, in mine and Ann's absence although you have manged to pop in Ann, and so have you too Sharyn. Well done.
Good to hear all is well, well as well as can be expected with you ladies.

I'm on a mission with the housework so now must zoom off again. I am going to leave you with the tale typed below and hope it doesn't make you shudder as much as it did me.

A woman walks into a vets with her rather large pet snake. She tells the vet that she's concerned about its change in behaviour the last few weeks and worries that it might be ill! She tells the vet that it seems to have lost its appetite as it's not eating, and when she wakes up in the morning it's layed out beside her in bed which it hadnt done before!

The vet looked her straight in the eye horrified - 'Im sorry but your snake has to be put down immediately!' The woman stared at him in shock and disbelief! "What? Killed!! Why?!!' The vet said 'Because your snake hasnt lost its appetite - it's fasting.......and its not lying beside you at night in affection - it's measuring itself against you.....(the woman continued to look blank)......its checking to see if it's big enough to accommodate you!!!
Creepy!!!!!!

Well, I am still in the country housesitting ... surrounded by tons of snow and two dogs.  One is 15 years old (Minnie) and the other one has diabetes (Buddy).  I refused to learn how to give injections, so Melanie from two farms up the road comes twice a day, to give Buddy his injections. It is just too much of a responsibility which I dont want to have.

Thanks for getting stuff off your chest, Tigs.  No, I did not pop in and read without leaving hallo or any other posts.  Just started when I did finally come here, after getting your christmas card.  And you are right, no one is ever too busy to do what matters the most. You are a good example of that.

One thing that does get to me is all the talk about food that I know is harmful to our well-being.  And I understand that that is my opinion, and it doesnt matter much to anyone else except me. I have seen, and continue to see people getting sick because they dont obey the laws of nutrition (at least to a certain extent) and that is why my friend is now in hospital battling pancreatic cancer and fighting for her life.  I had asked her husband if I could visit her, and he basically said no (but in a nice way) and that she was sleeping a lot.  An inner voice told me to go anyway.  So I did.  I just showed up at the hospital and met some of her family in The Quiet Room and asked them what I should do.  I told them that I was okay with not seeing her, but that I had to come.  I am learning to listen to my inner still voice.  Well, I did manage to see her very briefly.  She just kept saying Oh Hal, oh Hal, is this a dream?  So I was so glad to see her.  And as you know, I also asked them what I can do to help them.  I know her husband would have said "Nothing", but her sister said that some neighbours were bringing over food, so thats when I made the chili and basmati rice. I hope they like it.

So that was a long way around as to what bothers me - just a little anyway.  I too, like Tigs, am wondering if I should send this.  But I will.  Because I think when you like a group of people, you want to be honest even if you disagree with some things.  Because isn't this what keeps our world turning and making it an interesting place?

So there, that is out in the open.  I enjoy this group, and have been here a loooong time.  Since 2001 ... I remember putting my computer together on September 11 and crying my eyes out. What a historical day that was!

I am glad that you are back, Tigs.  Hope you had a nice rest.  And we missed you and look forward to your posts.  And I'm sorry for causing you undue worry and concern.

(sneaking in)

Welcome back Tigs.    I hope your trip was enjoyable, hope to hear a little about it when you get back on and are a little more chatty.
That story is creepy, it certainly cannot be true...?

Enjoy your country setting, snow, and the good company of a couple faithful companions, Sweet.  Sounds like a Norman Rockwell painting , doesn't it, lol  I too was worried that something bad had happened to you as you were gone for so long.  It's true that friends should not do that to each other.  I have asked my guys to sign on here and let you ladies know if something bad had ever happened to me. God Forbid!  Please don't let us worry about you.

Bob got home last night with Ashley. She will stay a few weeks.  It will be nice to have her around for a while.

It is so bitterly cold here, artic chills they say.  I checked on Gabby when I got home last night and she was very content in her little heated box.   I am off today, but no plans for anything. When Ashley gets up maybe we can run off to lunch or something.

Chrissy had planned a cookout to get a bunch of people over to clean up the yard, LOL...I told her I don't clean other peoples yards on my day off  :), but it is much too cold for all that today so I think she cancelled it.  She is trying her hardest to commit me to coming to her Mary Kaye party.  UGH..NO thanks!  I told her to just say NO to Mary Kaye!  I rarely wear make up and I certainly would never buy their overly priced stuff.

I think I will start my day with a relaxing tubby before everyone gets up.  I hear Joe arousing in the hallway.  I can['t believe the bird is being so quiet this morning, she;s usually a chatterbox. Maybe she wore herself out with her excessive chatter yesterday because she was in rare form.  Time for our morning oatmeal...then a tubby.
Wonder what today will bring, no plans is kind of scary, lol

Have a wonderful day,  Stay warm!!

Hi Lovlee, I dont know either. I will let someone else fill you in.

I just came back from a sleigh ride.  What a thrill being pulled by a big horse in a carriage and being covered with a big blanket to keep cozy and warm (Dr. Zhivago, eat your heart out).  The scenery at Melanie's farm is absolutely gorgeous.  Her husband has made a trail and the horse wanted to canter but Melanie made him walk and an occasional trot.  Afterwards she invited me in for a piece of  blueberry cake made with a dollop of whipped cream (which I declined -just too rich for me).  Otherwise what a perfect afternoon.

Surprised that Tigs has not been in.  Where are you?

I'm here!

Oh Sweet that sleigh ride sounds wonderful! I'm so jealous!  So there are compensations to having so much snow and sub zero temps. I've been watching the temps on vista for Ottawa for quite a while now and was aghast when it showed  -25c earlier today!!
Lol at Dr Zhivago, that is one of Wac's favourite films.

I don't blame you for not learning how to give the injections Sweet I know I couldn't and wouldn't do that either as I'd be so scared I would do something wrong.

Thanks for the tolerance re my post of concern for you Sweet and I understand where you are coming from with some of the comments you made. I know the food issue is very important to you and I can understand your dismay when you see people becoming ill and their quality of life being compromised partly possibly due to incorrect food choices. You are very kind to care Sweet but unfortunately as you know only the people involved can make the necessary changes to improve their own health and well being.
I am so sorry to hear about your poorly friend, I presume she is terminal.

Not sure if the snake tale is true or not Red but it's made me cringe on and off all day when it keeps popping back into my head.

How lovely for you to have Ashley as a visitor for a wee while. I hope you both have a good girlie time whilst she is around.

Lovlee so nice to see you here. Would love to give you more info about the room move but I have only grasped the transition to the ladies take a break facility on facebook. I tried multiply but didn't like it so haven't been on in ages and wouldn't know where to find my membership details now.
Yvette as always needs to be the best person to advise everyone.

This afternoon we had a lovely spell of sunshine that was quite warm for about an hour and I enjoyed this whilst James and I washed our cars. I also gave Mark's a 'quick do' as it was absolutely filthy and looked so unloved.

Just before I fall into bed I will give you a brief mention of our trip. We have had a lovely five days although 2 of them were travelling and the countryside on the journey there is a bit tedious as it is mainly motorway and just field after field for scenery.
The hotel was a little run down but spotlessly clean and the people who ran it were very friendly.
The food was absolutely gorgeous with plenty of choice, well made and piping hot.
Each evening there was a choice of soup or salad for starters so I always had the salad which included lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, tuna, cheese, coleslaw and potato salad. There was beetroot but I don't like that.

For my main course I usually chose stir fried veg and boiled rice but I could have had assorted potatoes, several boiled veg, chicken, beef or fish. There was a vast array of desserts, usually one hot eg apple crumble and custard plus lots of cold desserts including fruit, chocolate gateaux, strawberry gateaux, ice cream, creme caramel. Three evenings they had chocolate fudge cake so guess what I chose.

There were trips out everyday and we visited Barnstaple, Minehead, Ilfracombe, Westward Ho and a couple of other places I can't think of the names. Our coach driver was a very considerate driver although a little quiet. He didn't give much commentary on the journey's as his usual routes were Ireland and Belgium so he probably didn't know very much about the Devon countryside.
On our last afternoon we went to Dartington crystal but I didnt buy anything but it was very nice to go and see the products and I watched the video of how the place started and how they make the glass it was very informative and interesting.

I'm off to bed now...if it doesn't snow overnight like has been forecast I shall be up for church early on.
