What can I say about paradise on earth! The weather is always beautiful - trade winds blow to keep the air smelling like island flowers - sitting on my front deck I look out at the West Mountains and the ocean below - sitting on my back deck I look out at the volcano - it has been dormant for over 300 years and they don't expect this sleeping giant to wake up for another 3,000 years - but experts have been fooled before, so who knows!
Hawaii has a chain of islands - Kaui at the top, then Ohau, then Molokai, Lanai, Maui, then the Big Island called Hawaii at the southern tip. Kihei is the desert area of Maui - we have about 9 different climates here on the island - hubby and I chose to live in the warmest spot as we are like lizards, we adore the sun and the warm days. I have visited all the islands except Molokai - this one is where most of the pure blood Hawaiians live - in fact you can't purchase a home there unless you have Hawaiian bloodlines. My husband had to go over there for an AARP meeting and he told me the folks there are the friendliest people he has ever met on this earth of ours!
Each island is surrounded by ocean, so the air here is very clean - no pollution as we have no big factories. Island living isn't for everyone, but it suits my family (and me) to a tee!
