Email Etiquette & Safety

Special request to ask your email contacts

If you are emailing more than one contact at a time, please use the Bcc feature - instead of 'To' or 'Cc'.

Using 'BCC' means all of your friends' names and email addresses are HIDDEN

Apart from it being etiquette, there are important reasons you should hide your friends' email addresses,

after all...

who wants their email address given out to hundreds, even thousands, of strangers?

Why, what can go wrong?
  • People collect email addresses and sell them to marketing companies
    ... AND THAT MEANS???
  • The junk mail builds up which can be really annoying, BUT also including those emails which are very unpleasant.
  • Leaving email addresses exposed for anyone to see also makes life easier for ONLINE PREDATORS to harvest contacts.
So you see it makes sense to use the 'BCC' when you're posting to more than one email friend!

(PS would appreciate it if you pass this message on when you feel it is required - no spamming necessary)
