Forwarded Emails First, I do on occasion forward emails, and forwarded funnies are great every so often. Its great to get a random laugh you weren't expecting. Here are some things to consider, however, when forwarding emails to a number of people:
Use BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) instead of CC When you forward an email to a number of people and put their email address in the CC field, you end up sending everyone's email address to everyone the email goes to. Some people don't like this, as their email address is being passed along to people they don't know, and then passed along again when those people forward the email.
Beside that, there is a real danger in forwarding the emails because of viruses and spyware. Lets say my computer is infected with a virus. Virus's these days go through your emails and pull out email address's and send viruses to those address's. That email you forwarded to me with all those emails in the CC field will be read by the virus on my computer. My computer then spews out viruses to all those people. The less emails it finds, the less it can spread. Spyware also does the same thing, if my computer is infected with spyware, all the email address's now are put on a spammers list as valid, good email address's.
So when you forward an email, put YOUR email address as the "TO" address (this is because most email programs wont let you not have a to address), and everyone you are forwarding it to in the BCC (not CC) field.
Remove other peoples emails from the message ALSO, if the person who forwarded you the email left all the CC's in the body of the email, be sure to delete them from the email before clicking send.
Check the background of the email Whenever you get a forwarded email that is either calling a bunch of people to action, or warning people of something, before you forward, you should run a quick Google search on the email. Most of them are either hoaxes or ineffective calls to action that have been passed around for years.
If the email is one of these, don't prolong the life of the hoax, instead reply all (and change to BCC) and let the people who got the email know the truth behind the email (and add a link to this site if you don't want to explain it yourself :) )
On a personal note .. don't know about you .. but I don't appreciate my email addy sent to alot of people ... especially to strangers  !! Can't be too careful today !!
