He sat upon the porch swing
In his twilight years.
His thoughts just drifted slowly
To his bygone years.
In youth he joined the navy
Travelled many lands
Serving for his country
A story in his hands.
He took a wife in later life
Who bore him three fine boys,
Their home was filled with laughter
As they played with their toys.
The nest they flew as they were grown
Where did the years go?
Now it is the grandkids
They give his heart a glow.
His twilight years upon him
Memories oh so many
Would he ever change things?
Regrets,he has not any.
