Blended Spiced Tea
 
 
3 large (about 2" each) pieces dried ginger
2 cinnamon sticks
15 cloves
15 cardamom pods
3 T. green tea
Airtight canister
For brewing:
1 quart (32 oz) purchased spring water or
calcium free tap water
4 heaping teaspoons sugar
Tea strainer

Cut ginger into small pieces. In spice grinder, grind 2 to 3 pieces, 1 at a time, to powder. Strain. Break cinnamon sticks into small pieces. Mix with cloves and cardamom pods. Mix green tea with blended spices and ground ginger. Transfer to attractive airtight canister. To prepare tea, combine water and sugar in large pan over high heat. Add 4 t. spicy tea mixture and 1 more for teapot, if desired. Bring water to a rolling boil; steep until tea reaches desired strength. Warm teapot or individual cups with boiling water. discard water. Pour tea through strainer into teapot or cups. Stir. Makes 4 cups tea.
