Easy Homemade Apple Turnovers

1 package Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry
Homemade or canned apple pie filling
Homemade or canned white frosting

Homemade Apple Pie Filling
6 tart apples
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon flour

Peel, core and slice apples and toss with sugar, cinnamon, salt and flour.

Homemade Frosting
3 tablespoons softened butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 dash salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk or half-and-half

Cream butter, sugar and salt. Add vanilla extract and milk. Beat until smooth.

Thaw puff pastry for 30 minutes at room temperature.

Mix egg and water for egg wash. Unfold puff pastries on lightly floured surface and spoon half the apple mixture down the middle of each pastry.

Fold sides of pasty over the top of the apples. Close ends by making a 1/2 fold at each end and use a stiff pastry brush dipped in egg wash to adhere. Brush egg wash covering pastries. Make 3 diagonal cuts across tops of turnovers.

Transfer to large baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cool for 15 minutes.

Spoon frosting into a zip-type bag, zip it up and cut a small corner off bottom of bag. Drizzle lines of frosting over tops of turnovers.

Each turnover yields 8 servings.
