Spiced Pears
3 large pears, pared
12 whole cloves
2 cup sugar
3 Cup orange juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 stick cinnamon
1 large orange, peeled and thinly sliced
1 cup seedless green grapes
Cut pears lengthwise in half; insert 2 cloves in broad end
of each pear half. Heat sugar, orange juice, lemon juice and
cinnamon stick to boiling in 3-quart saucepan, stirring until
sugar is dissolved; place pears in orange syrup. Simmer
uncovered, turning occasionally, until tender, 10 to 15
minutes. Remove pears to serving dish; add orange slices
and grapes. Pour orange syrup on fruit. 6 SERVINGS.
