French Strawberry Torte

11/4 cups biscuit baking mix
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
¥4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 pint fresh strawberries, cut in half
1Iz cup orange juice
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
¥2 cup chilled whipping cream
2 tablespoons sugar
Heat oven to 400". Mix baking mix, 1/4 cup sugar and the
orange peel. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse
cornmeal. Press mixture in ungreased round layer pan,
gx1 ¥2 inches. Bake until light brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Cool
about 30 minutes.
Invert crust on serving plate. Arrange strawberries on
crust. Mix orange juice, water, 2 tablespoons sugar and the
cornstarch in saucepan. Heat to boiling, stirring con-
stantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Cool completely. Pour
orange glaze on strawberries: Refrigerate 1 hour.
Beat whipping cream and 2 tablespoons sugar until stiff.
Garnish torte with whipped cream. 8 TO 10 SERVINGS.
