Olde Beltainne
Although Beltane is now usually celebrated from sundown April 30th to sundown on the first of May, it should be noted that in earlier times, before the calendar changes of 1752, all dates year-round would have come some days later -- precious extra days, in springtide especially, during which time the hawthorn ("mayflower") and many more trees and flowers would have begun blooming. An alternative date around May 5 (Old Beltaine), when the sun reaches 15 degrees taurus, is sometimes employed by Covens. (The name 'Lady Day' is incorrectly assigned to this holiday by some modern traditions of wicca.)
According to most accurate calculations, this year's Beltane occurs on May 5 at 18:11 Eastern Time...(that is 3:11p.m. Pacific time...)
