How To Make Quarter Candles
Do your quarter candles blow out, fall over (or get kicked over?) Here's an idea for easy candle holders that offer a little protection from wind & stray feet!
You will need:
* Four - 3" or 4" clay flowerpots (depending on the size of your candles)
*Four - matching clay saucers (you can pick these up in the garden department of most "mart" stores.)
*Acrylic paints, stones, feathers, sea shells, etc.
To make the holders:
Decorate each pot around the top edge with a representation of the Element...
For example:
- you could paint the pot for "Water" blue, then glue seashells around the top edge;
- "Earth" could be green with rocks;
- "Air" might be yellow with feathers;
- "Fire" could be red painted with yellow flames.
If you don't want to do much gluing, try a stylized representation of the Element around the top edge...
- a wavy line in blue for "Water,"
- flowing, feathery yellow strokes for "Air,"
- sharp triangular lines
- "Fire," and square, boxy shapes for "Earth."
Make this your own representation of each element. Let your imagination be your guide.
After the pots have dried for 24 hours, you may wish to put a sealant over your painting, especially if it's to be used outside. Then place a bit of sand in each pot and center it in it's saucer.
Add a candle in the center and if you want to further decorate, you can put representations around the pot, in the saucer...Remember, this is your creation so make it unique to you and your offering to the Elements.
Place each pot in it's spot... East :Air ... South :Fire ... West :Water ... North :Earth and you are ready to welcome the elementals !
I hope you will share your creation here and let me know what special things you did to create this special quarter Candles for your Sacred Circle.
