An Exercise For Balancing Your Chakras
 
  This is meant to help you learn how to open, "close" and regulate the energy flow at your chakra centers.  This will help a person achieve balance.  The important tip I will give is to begin at lower chakras and work up.  Start at your root center and practice, practice, practice until you feel comfortable with the energy before moving on/up to the next center.  This will help you build up the energy in a balanced way.  In my opinion, this approach works better and achieves balance in a "safer" way than working on chakras singly.  (Safer as in it's less likely to overload the energy in any one area.)

This is an emotional exercise.  Deep feelings can surface.  It may be more comfortable to have a close friend guide you through the process.  If the emotions are too intense, STOP and ground yourself.  You can take a break and resume when you are in a more calm state.  This can be a deep, lengthy process and is meant to be repeated until the energy flow is balanced.  It's hard work, but the rewards will show on a physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional level.

If anything isn't clear, just ask me and I'll clarify.  It's been another long day.  Sources simply based on my Reiki training and personal pathwork.

The exercise:

Make preparations so you are not disturbed.  Sit or lie down comfortably.  Ground and center and enter a calm, relaxed state.  Visualize your Root chakra.  What color is it?  The Root chakra is generally red.  What shape is it?  Is it a flower like a lotus or rose?  Is it a spiral or an orb of light?  A vortex?  Do you see movement in the chakra?  If not, imagine it slowly opening and spinning.  Imagine the color of the chakra as clear, pure and bright.  See the chakra as spinning at a comfortable speed.

If you feel resistance or blockage, listen to yourself for a reason why.  It's possible past conditioning is trying to protect you from something that doesn't apply in the present.  That center may have a tough time "letting go" of the past and accepting a safe environment.  Bless whatever is coming from that center for protecting you when you needed protection and create a way this certain quality can help you now.  Transform it to a positive emotion.  Instead of anxiety and blockage for instance, channel the chakras energy to a valuable warning system.  Continue "communicating" with that energy center until the chakra is clear of all harmful emotions and you understand the source of the blockage.

If you feel comfortable, continue to the next chakra center and use the same technique to clear and open that energy centers.  Keep all colors clear and bright.  The chakras should spin in the same direction.  Continue, including the Crown.  You do NOT need to do all 7 centers at once.  If you are too emotional or one center is a lot of work, take a break.  Continue with as many chakras clear as you are comfortable with to the next step.  (In other words, if you only make it "up" to the Heart level, start your "closing" at that level and proceed down.)

When you are comfortable with the energy flow in all the centers they should be clear and balanced.  However, you must "close" your chakras slightly or you may be overwhelmed by the intensity of the world!

Starting at the Crown, see the chakra center spinning slightly more slowly and closing slightly.  Do not "dim" the color, leave the centers partially open, but now in their clear state.  Ground yourself, releasing any excess energy into the ground by placing your palms on the floor and letting the extra energy flow.  Drinking some water and eating a small snack will help ground you also.  Do NOT skip this step!  You should now feel energized, refreshed and balanced.
