Spirit Board’s Prayers and Words of Protection
There is a land we all go,

In the name of the Lord and the Lady, may nothing but light surround this board and its participants. Let us only communicate with Powers and Entities of Light. Protect us, protect this house, all that live within this house and let there only be Light and nothing but Light. Blessed Be!

Light a white candle as far away from the board as the tallest person around the board.
Make a Cabalist Cross. Face East and point above you.
Touch the brow between the eyes and say “You are�?BR>Point to the ground and say “the universe�?BR>Touch the left shoulder and say “the power�?BR>Touch the right shoulder and say “the glory�?BR>Place palms in prayer with fingers pointing up and say “forever, amen�?
Point to the east and draw a 6�?circle at shoulder height and say “in the east, Raphael�?BR>Turn 90 degrees to the right while keeping arm extended and draw a 6�?circle and say “in the south, Michael�?BR>Turn 90 degrees to the right while keeping arm extended and draw a 6�?circle and say “in the west, Gabriel�?BR>Turn 90 degrees to the right while keeping arm extended and draw a 6�?circle and say “in the north, Uriel�?BR>Now raise your hands, palms open and make a ‘Y�?with your arms and body while facing east and say

“This ritual is performed for the purpose of obtaining secret knowledge.�?BR>With the right finger draw 3 clockwise spirals above the Spirit Board and see the spirals filled with light and say

“I give thanks to thee, shining Goddess Selene, for helping to fulfill this ritual.�?BR>Now, draw an equal armed cross on the surface of the board (top to bottom, left to right) and then draw a clockwise circle around the cross. See the cross glow in white light and say:

How to use a Spirit Board?
�?Smudge with sage or purifying incense like rosemary or frankincense.
�?Light a white candle and place as far away from the board as the tallest querent.
�?State in a strong voice that no negative or harmful energies are to be attracted by your board.
�?Tell any negative forces that may be present that they are now banished and dismissed.
�?Say a prayer of prayer or words of protection.
�?The first question you should ask is what is the name of your Spirit Guide?
�?Only ask positive questions. If anything negative arrives, close the board and do not use it for several days.
�?Work only for an hour once a week at most. You can place flowers, water, and salt nearby.
�?Try to work at 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in quiet as this is the most opportune time.
�?Always close the session and put the planchette on good-bye and say “I give thanks and say good-bye to all present.�?BR>�?Envision white light surrounding the board and you, and cast a protective circle.
�?Never ask a spirit to move or do something in the physical as this may open the door to allow them to pass through into the material.
�?Remember that sometimes the answers may be spelled wrong or spelled phonetically.
�?If a trapped spirit seeks help to cross over, ask your Spirit Guide to guide them to higher realms. If the spirit doesn’t go, then close the board.
�?Wear silver to protect yourself.
�?Place a satchet of sea salt with the board when not in use to ensure the board is sealed and cleansed.
�?Say “good-bye spirit�?and the planchette should go to goob-bye. If not, then move the planchette to good-bye and say aloud “good-bye�? Then smack the planchette on a firm surface.
�?Also you can draw the planchette and board over a flame, sprinkle with sea salt, smudge with sage, sprinkle with lavender and picture white light covering the board, planchette and all present to cleanse and protect.
Something I learned in researching the checkered past of the Spirit Board was that it is a tool like anything else, and is no worse or better than anything else. If you have taken the time to learn, to study, and you come to the board with good intentions, love, faith, trust and respect then your experience will reflect that. If you come to the board unprepared, disrespectful, careless and with inner fear, distrust, etc. then your experience will reflect that as well.
Spirit Boards like any occult tool are not toys or for the insecure, unsure or unskilled.

To Close a Spirit Board If you feel troubled by a board and feel that it is drawing in negativity or the doorway is open, I would suggest washing it in salt water and placing a bag of sea salt on it to close and seal the board. Maybe say something like:
In the name of the Lord and the Lady,
May nothing but light surround me.
In the name of the Lord and the Lady
May nothing but light surround this place.
In the name of the Lord and the Lady,
May nothing but light surround all that is, was or shall ever be.
Let there only be Light and nothing but Light.
Only light is welcome.
Only light may come.
Only light may enter.
This space. This place.
(Invoke the sign of the earth pentacle and put the board in the ground with the bag of sea salt on top and the planchette on good-bye)
I say good-bye.
(Invoke the sign of the air pentacle)
I close the door.
I say good-bye.
(Invoke the sign of the fire pentacle)
I shut this gate.
I say good-bye.
(Invoke the sign of the water pentacle)
I seal this opening.
I say good-bye.

None may open any door by this tool.

If you aren't comfortable with the board and want to be rid of it, then you can throw it in a river to wash away the energies (as long as it flows away from you and the board is environmentally friendly). Or, you can bury it in the earth off of your property (not on a neighbors or the energy may get stuck there). I don't think I'd burn it because if the doorway is open, I feel the fire will only leave it open rather than closing it.
