Divining by Candle Shapes

As you practice this form of divination, you will begin to see
definite patterns and shapes in the smoke, flame and melted wax.
There are no set definitions for these and your subconscious will
guide you in interpreting them. It is a good idea to have a notebook
nearby so that you can record your findings.

Observe the flame, its shape and write down what it looks like to
you. Keep this information as it may mean nothing at first, but later
take on a new meaning and importance.

Observe, also, the shape of the melted wax. I have in my possession a
piece of wax that is an exact reproduction of a dragon's claw. The
candle it was made from was a candle anointed and dedicated to the
dragons for their assistance. Their response was to leave behind an
intricate and delicate paraffin claw. I possess it to this day.

The shadows that the candle flame makes against a wall or other
stationary surface can tell us a great deal about the magick we have
cast, or even be an answer to a question we have posed.

Some people use an old method of libanomancy and paper. We know that
smoke can singe and create carbonized patterns and shapes of the
singed item. We call this soot. *my aunts always take a look at the
inside of a pot which has been singed with smoke of a cooking fire;
many witches study the sooty remains of a burned structure..etc*

You can also use this method as follows:

Light a candle and write down your question on parchment paper (or
onion skin paper...also called air mail paper) Fold over and quickly
pass the paper over the smoke of the candle flame three times. The
smoke will imprint on the paper. Unfold the paper and study the
patterns for shapes, letters, numbers, etc.
