YEAR OF THE DRAGON

This ritual was never performed.  I was asked to do it for a science fiction convention but do to certain circumstances, I declined.  It was never really finished so its rather brief.  If I ever have the cause to do another dragon ritual, or when I have time, it will be finished.  On 9-25-02 I revised this somewhat.  The dragon meditation was written by a friend but since the ritual was never performed I never proof-read it.  I have altered it considerably.  I also added 2 addendums for the incense mixture and the casting mixtures referenced in the rite. 

The openings came from the circle casting. If you decide to perform the rite, please  meditate and find your own dragons to work with.  

Words in italics are spoken.

Sky Quarter (East)

 Guardian: (Makes Opening Sign �?the pentagram)

Dragon brothers, assist me in opening the doors of the East

Before us are the golden doors of the sun

That lead to the light of the jewel of father sky   

(Knock the doors - the ground - 6 times with staff)

Dragon brothers, the doors are open

 All Quarter Callers:

 Hail to the dragon kingdom of the East

Guardian: 

Koth-Sander, Guardian of the realms of East.  

Your tongue is a sharp sword, cutting with the knowledge of the arcane.  

Your spirit flows as graceful as a swift in flight.  

Purify us with Truth.

Fire Quarter (South)

Guardian: (Makes Opening Sign)

Dragon brothers, assist me in opening the doors of the South

Before us are the crimson doors of primal fire

That lead to the cleansing flames  

(Knock the doors - the ground - 6 times with staff)

Dragon brothers, the doors are open

Hail to the dragon kingdom of the South

 Guardian: 

Gore-trade-ous, Guardian of the realms of the South, 

your breath is a flame with the fires of inspiration & passion.  

Your spirit is searing & fervent.   

Purify us with love.

Water Quarter (West)

Guardian: (Makes Opening Sign)

Dragon brothers, assist me in opening the doors of the West

Before us are the silver doors of the Moon

That lead to receiving truth and wisdom

Sa-dora, Guardian of the realms of the West, 

your coils are the cleansing waves that nurture the soul.   

Your spirit lunges, leaps, & splashes like a Talbot at Play.   

Purify us with pulsing tides.

Earth Quarter (North)

Guardian: (Makes Opening Sign)

Dragon brothers, assist me in opening the doors of the North

Before us are the marble doors of earthly wisdom

That lead to the renewal of Mother Earth  

(Knock the doors - the ground - 6 times with staff)

All Quarter Callers: 

Hail to the dragon kingdom of the North

Guardian:

Haz-oh-doe, Guardian of the realms of the North, 

your talons run like roots into the earth, giving you infinite strength.  

You spirit is substantial, hard & pure like a clean crystal.  

Purify us with persistent wisdom.

Priest:  

Let us now summon the spirit of the Dragon.

We begin with the casting of the Dragon’s Eye.

At the completion of the casting, I will invoke the spirit of the dragon.

At that point quite yourselves and await the words of the dragon.

<Ben draws the Dragon’s Eye with the mixture around the circle . He steps to the center of the circle, holds the sword as high as he can (point downward) and performs the chant.>

Cum Saxum Saxorum

In duersum montum oparum da,

In aetibulum

In quinatum �?DRACONIS!

<Ben plunges the sword deep into the Earth in one swift motion.  Heather throws the casting mixture into the fire (POOF!!!!).   All pause in silence for the presence of the dragon.>

At this point, WhiteRose (the priestess) will read a visualization that will take you all to meet the dragons personally.  

Priestess: 

During this meditation you will shape shift into the form of a dragon.  At the beginning of this process I will ask you to close and then open your 'dream eyes.'  This means that in the visualization you are to do this.  It is important you visualize your eyes closing so that you can fully concentrate on the process of the transformation.  Please join hands.  Relax & close your eyes.  Breath deeply.  Feel yourself becoming relaxed.. 

Relax and visualize yourself in a woodland clearing,

In front of you, you see pathways of many colors.

Choose a pathway and follow it until you come to a clearing.

Here you can meet the Dragon of the path you have chosen.

Greet the dragon and introduce yourself to it.

 

'Tell the dragon you are ready to follow this path with it.

You see your dragon turn on walk further down the path.

You follow behind in silence.

You are now surrounded by the trees of the forest.

You can hear the soft sounds of the wild.

You can feel the gentle breezes.

Feel yourself becoming one with the forest around you.

 

You come to a woodland clearing

You hear soft music of the creatures around you

A small structure is in the center of the clearing.

Your dragon enters this structure and seems to disappear.

Slowly you approach the entryway.

You see doors made of feathers.

You blow and they gently open,

You step inside.

Before you is your dragon.

It stands in front of a table.

On this table there are many objects from all the paths of life.

Pick an item, place your hands upon it.

Meditate on the object and hear the voice of your dragon.

Listen as your dragon tells you the meaning of the object.

Understand its purpose on your journey through life

 

Remove your hands from your object.

Thank the dragon for imparting its wisdom to you.

You feel safe and loved.

Thank the dragon for the wisdom it has imparted to you.

Follow the dragon as it leaves the structure.

It stops at the edge of the clearing. 

Stand on the dragon's right side.

Breath deeply and listen carefully to the sounds of the forest.

 

Close your dream eyes.  Become aware of your body. 

Know that your body is a temporary form that you can change at any time.

Breath deeply and relax.

Feel your body becoming energized by the forest around you.

Feel yourself slowly begin to change.

You feel yourself become larger. 

You feel wings growing from your back.

Your hands become those of a dragon.

Your feet become those of a dragon.

Slowly you feel yourself taking on the form of a dragon.

Take a deep breath feeling it enter and exit through your long snout.

Extend your wings as far as they will reach.

You can feel them touch the wings of your dragon.

 

You can now hear the sounds of others coming into the clearing.

Open your dream eyes.

You can no longer see the structure at the center.

Instead you see that the clearing is surrounded by a circle of dragons of all shapes and sizes.

You can feel another dragon touching your wings. 

Each dragon joined by their wings.

You feel safe and strong.

 

Look to the heavens into the perfect blue sky above.

You feel your dragon's wings begin to move.

You can see him rising up into the sky.

Know that you too can fly with your wings.

Feel them moving faster and faster until your body rises from the ground. 

Fly up into the sky with all of the other dragons. 

Play among the clouds, dance with one another.

You feel at one with all of the dragons, the sky, and the earth.

You know that you are all the same, all things are one.

 

Softly you hear your dragon calling to you. 

It is time to return to the earth.

Gently you descend into the clearing.

Your feet touch the ground.

You feel a strong burst of energy flow through you.

You are now in the same form that you were when you entered the clearing.

Your dragon is there with you and the structure has returned. 

It is now time to return.

 

Walk to the edge of the woods to the beginning of your path.

Turn back towards the structure and you will see your dragon watching over you as you leave.

Know that your dragon will always be with you, guiding and protecting you.

It nods and bids you farewell.

Turn back to the path and begin walking.

You still feel at one with all that is.

You are at peace with everything in existence

You can now see the clearing where you begin your journey.

Walk to the center and take a deep breath.

Open your eyes. 

Know that all those gathered here today were with you as you danced though the clouds. 

You are one.  All things are one.

The rite will now continue.
