About the Elves

 

Legends teach us that a person who has been to Faeryland comes back as a mad or a poet. I'd say that they come back changed for ever! This realm must had touched them so profoundly by what they've seen that it is undescribable and obsessively unforgettable.
Those who came back said that Faeryland brings freshness to the human world and soul, just by their new perspective to see things, to percieve our world, to connect with our own realm.
Does someone who saw perfectness and pure beauty once can't change, can't be transformed for ever?

First, the Otherkin Movement, if it is indeed a movement, is a term for a person who doesn't feel quite human. Deep inside, he or she have the conviction, the strong feeling, to be something else, something more or different than a human soul. Whether they have an idea of their "origins", such as elf, pixie, wereworlf, vampire,...  those who are part of the movement are quite sincere. (See my article about Otherkin to learn more about this movement. Soon to come.) That you believe it or not, elves, faeries and other’kin are all around us.

There are many theories as to "why" one may be an elf. Like the Silver Elves said, "the origin of our kin' is shrouded in mystery...dear elfin kin, ....."and while there are many theories, there is only our hearts to decide which feels closest to our individual manifestation. We have to seek within, to know. The elves could be here to bring balance, to aid humanity, or perhaps they could be here because their Elvenhome-realm can no longer support them... Some says that they are in "true form", meaning soul and body reflect their nature, some in a human shell, so to speak, other in every ways but the physical. But this can't explain why we are here...and what we are first.

We, however, in the Elven Tradition, see this mystery a little differently...it is our belief that we did not descend into manifestation (man-ifestation, materiality, physicality). It took us many years to put lights into this mystery of our origins.

Origins:

We were the second root race, call the Sidhe, from Fae, the Elven/Elfin, the Eldar or Elder Race. We were luminous people living in a world that created a vast civilizations based on Nature. As time went on (over millions of years we could say) the world gradually began to open itself to the other realms. The craving of learning and experiencing life came more and more to our kin. First, we were just visiting, observing life in other parts of the universe. But then, it was not enough. We wanted more.

We had the opportunity to depart or actually remain in our realm, which many of our kin did. But then...something happened...the ones that went to the other realms to seek for knowledge and adventure never came back...others went to seek for them…they never came back too. What happened, we still doesn't know. That is the Mystery.

And then:

So, here we are, and it hardly matters whether we see things one way or the other, except for the fact that those who tend to believe that we fell into conflict. and thus descended into the material world, are usually the one's who would like to escape from this world. On the other hand, some of us feels that we volunteered to come here and are also determined to stay...to reincarnate over and over again until we “Master�?this realm, creating bodies that are indeed Immortal...thus Elfin.

Those are matters of "feelings".

What’s next then:

It doesn't matter which theories you are believing. What matters here and now is your thenin erui vân (true single spirit). For let us face a simple fact....while we have the spirits and souls of elves, we have the physical bodies of men and women. Everyone knows that. Our minds, by which we mean both our conscious and subconscious aspects (along with linear/logic and special/creative minds) are the channels between our bodies and our souls. We must communicate with our mind, soul and body. The most difficult task, after we acknowledged our thenin vân is to simply be in peace with the s’elf.

When we echuel (awaken) to our elfin nature, we open the passage way between us and the Other World, and also to our true elfin nature mind. I call this “The Duir Awareness�?

About The Duir Awareness:

Duir is Oak, in celtic language. It is an ogham, the oak-tree glyph. The Oak is already popularly associated with the druids and magic. It is the highest and most exalted of bushes. This tree is teaching us so much things…mostly about protection and defence…and of course, longevity!

Duir is a door to the Other World, for the druid perspective. Dear elfin kin, when we are echuel…we have the power of Duir! Druids had the tradition to make spiritual journey beside an oak. We don’t really need that, because we are only seeking our way home. We are…partly…an oak tree.

We are “aware�?of the Other World, each and every time we close our eyes and seek the “feelings�?of Faeryland. We “know�?that it is all around, and inside us. That is what I call the Duir Awareness…knowing that the faeries and Home are always somewhere not far, with you.

After the echui (awakening), we open a Duir…a door!

And now:

We seek balance and expression by living our Ways of the Woven Star (magic) to live our lives as elves, because we feel that this is right…that this is how it should be…that our body become pân min (all one) with our mân (soul). We become one, connected and in peace with the will and Nature. We are arth (exalted).

We are here to realize something, that is for sure, and becoming reality, those shining folks we've always dreamed ours'elves to be, can be realised in perfect love and perfect trust. We are not here to escape to Elfland, but rather here to shape this world, to shape this LIFE by our true magic, which is the s’elf. We are here to create, to experience.

One bouddhist monk told me once: "the better way to see that your home is the best place to live, is by seeing and experiencing other places." This is what we are doing, here, in this realm. We are experiencing and seeking a way to see our Home differently, to see and feel it into that radiant realm where love rules and magic heals, and we dance and sing and create throughout Eternity. Each and every time we make the effort to live our lives the Elfin way...it grows closer and closer to us, becoming real, becoming within. That is true healing!

By weaving our Ways of the Woven Star, a web of unions and relationship with the s’elf and Nature connect us to our land and our life in this realm change its’elf.

We all need healing. We all need to BE.

 

About the Elven Races

I have included, here in the following, memories I have collected about elves, both my own and those that have been shared with me. It's nice, once in a while, to have your thoughts echoed by someone else, to affirm that you're not just making it all up. So, feel free to write-me if you have something. This webpage is made for that! How thrilled I was when I found Elves in different countries who had come up with the same ideas, the same feelings, independently!

It is also good to know what "kind" of elf we are. This will help you to align yours'elf to Elfinland and your Home.  This can only be tested in time, and will change your life. It's really something that fills your heart with wonder and gives you hope!

Here are things that could help you in your Quest of the True S'elf.

First, try to "feel" and "see" your aura. For this, sit by your elfin altar, light a white candle and some incense. Take three deep breath, calm down and enter yours'elf.
When you are completely calm and connected, open gently but not widely, your eyes and put your hands around the candle. Imagine that a globe of energy captures the light of the candle. Feel the heat in your hand...imagine this globe.

Now, take this globe with both of your hand, and raise it in the air. After a wile, you will feel something in your hands. Take this ball down, near your stomach. Feel it...try to see its color, try to feel this color. Can you see it? Can you feel it?

There are a lots of elven races, each of them closely linked to a specific element, sometime more. With the help of your aura color, you can now seek for your true elven race...

Grey-Elves, the Elves of the Twilight are living in woods. Sometimes they are called Silvan Elves because they are living in Woods. Their trees are huge and the forest where they are living is protected by a mist that never fade. They are highly spiritual, have "magical powers" and knows the language of nature, moon and stars. The "magical" forest let them in a some kind of night where the sun is filtered and cast a bleu/silver light. Their skins are white and crystallised, have grey and pale eyes colors and their ways are always gracious, profound and kind. The wind seems to flow when they are speaking and their words are poetic and musical. They are sharing their world and life with the faeries of the trees, and off course birds and other animals of the forests.

Nandor Elves, or Mountain's Elves are living in forests and mountains. They could have lived in the Black Forest in Germany that I wouldn't be surprised. Their skins are white and kind of grey. Their eyes are dark and their hair too. They are wearing dark cloths passing from brown, black, dark grey and dark green colors. They love precious stones like opals and quartz. They know their languages and use them in everything from jewels to marvellous wands and staffs and simple everyday tools. They are some kind of dwarves and share their knowledge with them and the animals and spirits living in mountains.

Wood Elves or Silvan Elves are the most known of all elven kin'. Wearing green, yellow and grey, their ways are simple. They love music and dancing, are graceful and kind. Trees are their major concerns and they are rarely leaving their home-forests. They are the woodland protectors and share their world with faeries and animals of the forests. They know the language of the herbs, trees and flowers. Female are always wearing crowns of flowers and leaves and male are powerful archer and animals' tamers.

Lindar are elves of the element of air. Lind means music and poetry which tells us that their ways are purely intellectual. They are living in the mountains where clouds eternaly shares their world. Poems, music and games with the winds are their life path. Birds are sharing their life and we can sometime see them riding air dragons and other air-creatures. Their skin have a touch of a brilliant and silky yellow. Their hair is as bleu as the sky at noon with a touch of pure white. They have thin and linear arms and legs and can speak the languages of the four winds!

Eldar are very mystical. From what I could learn about them, they are elves that have no specific elemental links. They are elves of shadows and light, ever in exile and experiencing life under all it manifestations. They are sharing their life path with horse, most of all, and have a strong link with wolves and wildcats. They know the languages of wolves and horses and do not sleep as the humans or other elves do. Most of all, their sleeps are just deep and profound meditations.

The Avatari are red and fiery elves. Dragons are their best friends and they know their languages. Warriors-like elves, they always wear red, black and gold. Their skin have a dark and bronze touch and their eyes are red. They are wearing dark and black hair. Most of them have braids. They are mercenaries and studies martial arts and fire properties. Some of them are alchemists!

The Teleri are Water Elves. Boats, dolphins, oceans, seas...that's their world. They knows the "Calling" and help other elves in their return to the Homeland of the Gods (the Valar). They knows the languages of the seas and can predict the weather (well...they are psychic and prophets, I should say)! Seagulls are their natural helpers, as dolphins, wales and other sea-lovers. They live as the sea is rising and fading by the moons. A Teleri far from home, far from the sea is impossible. If so, they are depressed and could fade and die under the force of the "Calling".

The Dark Elves, sometime called Drow (unfortunately) are simply some kind of vampires! Living in the night, speaking the languages of dark dragons and nightly creatures, they have tremendous and demonic powers. Their skins are pale, almost transparent, and their eyes are almost as white as their hair. They can't really live under the sun and in the daytime. That's why they are called Dark Elves.

Shadow Elves lives in the night, but also in the dark. They refused the light of the Sun, thinking that it made dissapears the lights of the stars and the beauty and confort of the moon. Shadow Elves could be a kind of Witches and Sorcerers. They are closer to the wisdom of the Moon and the stars, and they follow the path of the Dark Moon. As they do not live under the Sun, they need to take their energies from the Full Moon, and sometimes, of blood (but not as vampires do!). They are sharing, within their communities, the mysteries of blood (just as women do with their menstruations). Life and Death is a cycle of blood mysteries, just as the cycle of moons teach us. Dark moon is death, full moon is life
