Correspondences for 'Healing' spells
Creating a good spell is like baking a good cake. All the ingredients need to be just right. The first ingredient to consider is the deity (or deities) that you will call on for your spell.

Healing spells are associated with the following deities:

  • The Olympian Deity Apollo (Musician of the Gods) - A suitable offering would be Apples.
  • The Egyptian Deity Sekhmet (The Mighty One)
  • The Celtic Deity Bel (Sun and Fire God)
  • The Celtic Deity Brighid (Goddess of Fire, Healing and Smithcraft) - A suitable offering would be Fire, Coins, Blackberries.
  • The Celtic Deity Dagda (The Good God)
  • The Celtic Deity Diancecht (God of Healing and Magic) - A suitable offering would be Silver.
  • The Celtic Deity Gwydion (Druid of the mainland gods)
  • The Celtic Deity Lugh (Lugh of the Long Arm)
  • The Celtic Deity Merlin (The Great Sorceror) - A suitable offering would be Mandrake, incense.
  • The Celtic Deity Nuada (Silver Hand)
  • The Celtic Deity Scathach (She who strikes Fear)
  • The Angelic Deity Raphael () - A suitable offering would be Bread, Whipped Cream.
  • The Egyptian Deity Geb (Father of The Gods)

Each of these Gods has their own needs in terms of offerings, colors and the best time to work with them. The spell itself (in this case Healing), also has its own special energies which should be attended to. Unless otherwise stated, spells grow in power between the new and full moon (waxing) and reduce in power during waning moons.

For Healing spells, the best day to perform the spell is Sunday, since Sunday is associated with Healing. (In fact it is associated with all of these: health, abundance, healing, confidence and hope, prosperity).

Sunday also happens to be the favored day of the God Apollo , the Goddess Sekhmet , the God Bel , the God Lugh , the more the spell and deity have in common, the better!
You should also be sure to use the right herbs, candles, perfumes and incense for your ritual. For your Healing ritual, the following would be appropriate, in addition to any offerings you wish to make to the chosen deity:

    Correspondences for Healing
    Incense: Sandalwood,
    Planets: Sun
Perfumes: heliotrope, orange blossom, cloves, frankincense, ambergris, musk, myrrh
Candles: Blue, Brown, Green, Lavender, Light Blue, Pink, Purple, White, .
Herbs: Peppermint, Spearmint, Sweet Cicely, Rue, Cedarwood chips, Cinnamon Powder, Sandalwood Red Powder, Yellowdock, Yerba Santa, .

Remember to check the needs of the Gods and Goddesses you intend to work with also, and include appropriate offerings for them.
Every Tradition has its own method of ritual construction, so you will have to decide how best to incorporate all the above elements into your calls, casting, purification and offerings. All these elements help to raise the cone of power, and focus the attention of the deities, the elemental forces and you, on the matter at hand. Finally we come to the spell itself. Here is a Healing spell you can use for this ritual:

    Spell for Healing

    You will need:

  • Only a pure heart, and honesty of desire.

Start by praising the deities you have selected for this ritual. Be sincere and respectful - you are petioning them for assistance. Show them the offerings you have for them and place them in the libation bowl. As you do say, speak the following:
Oh {deity's name}, I offer this {offering} to you in gratitude for the help and healing that I know in your greatness and goodness you will bestow on {name of afflicted person}. So mote it be!

Be sure that your words really are sincere. If you perform this ritual out of guilt, or half-heartedly, the outcome may not be what you had anticipated.

When you have completed the spell, thank the gods and carry out your normal closing ceremonies.
