Apollo finger
Ring finger also known as the annularis finger
Apollo line (also known as Sun or Luck Line)
One line, or more, moving up the palm towards the ring finger
Axial Triradius
The triradius found at the middle base of the palm, known as 'T'. The ATD angle is found by measuring the angle that occurs as a result of taking three points in the palm and joining each point with a line to create a triangle. These points are the centre of the Jupiter mount (A), the centre of the Mercury mount (D) and the axial triradius (T) at the base of the palm. The ATD angle is found where the lines A and D meet T, normally creating an angle of 45 degrees.
Beau's lines
Horizontal grooves across the finger nails
Chirognomy
A study of genetic hand shape, finger shape, finger nails, texture, consistency, gesture, etc. Used by hand analysts in order to gain insight into aspects of the inner workings of the personality.
Chirology (Or Cheirology) - the modern understanding of this word is the complete study of all aspects of the hands, including chiromancy, chirognomy and dermatoglyphics. Many modern hand analysts now prefer the title Chirologist
Chiromancy
A study of the lines within the palms. From ancient times until the 19th century this was basically the only aspect of palmistry that existed
Clubbing of the fingers
Appears when the ends of the fingers swell into a clubbed shape, sometimes found with Hippocratic nails
Cyanosis
A blue discolouration of the skin
Distal phalange
Otherwise known as the top phalange
Distal transverse crease
Otherwise known as the Heart Line
Fate line
One or more vertical lines moving up the palm towards the middle
finger. Also known as the Destiny or Saturn line
Flexion creases
The lines in the palms that allow the hand to flex
Hippocratic nails
Finger nails that hump upwards like a watchglass
Hypothenar
The fleshy area of the palm encompassing the Luna mount
Jupiter finger
Index finger
Line of Intuition
A crease that creates an arc around the percussive or hypothenar area of the palm
Medial phalanges
Otherwise known as middle phalanges of the fingers
Medial side of the palm
Same as Ulna side of palm
Mee's lines
White lines that form across the finger nail, without creating a groove in the plate itself unlike Beau's lines, that create an actual groove in the nail plate
Mercury finger
Little finger or pinky, also known as the auricularis finger
Mercury line
One or more lines moving up the palm towards the little finger. Also known as the Line of Hepatica, the Liver Line, the Health line,and the line of Uranus
Neptune mount
Found at the base of the palm immediately between the Venus and Luna mounts
Percussion
The outside edge of the palm on the little finger side
Phalanges
The individual sections of the fingers divided by finger creases. These phalanges are commonly known as the top, middle and base phalanges
Pluto
The mount immediately below the Luna mount at the base of the palm
Proximal phalange
Also known as the base phalange
Proximal transverse crease
Otherwise known as the Head line
Quadrangle
The area of the palm lying between the heart and head lines
Radial side of palm
When the hand is divided into two sections by one vertical line, the
radial side is the thumb side of the palm
Rascette
One of generally three creases found on the wrist. Also known as a bracelet
Rubour
A red discolouration of the skin
Saturn finger
Middle finger, also known as the medicus finger
Sidney line
A head line that crosses the entire palm from one side to the other
Simian line
The fusion of both the head and heart lines that crosses as one crease from one side of the palm to the other
Simianesque line
A part Simian line where the head and heart lines fuse together into one single crease but with small sections of the existing lines remaining
Skin ridges
Raised skin markings that appear like the furrows of a ploughed field, also known as papillary or epidermal ridges. These ridges create the fingerprint patterns and also other patterns found in the palms. The study of skin ridges is called 'dermatoglyphics' which literally means 'skin carvings'
Thenar crease
Otherwise known as the Life line, surrounding the Thenar prominence (Venus Mount)
Thenar prominence
Otherwise known as the Mount of Venus around the ball of the thumb
Triangle
The area of the palm found between the head, life and health or Apollo lines
