Getting Reiki Treatment by a Reiki Practitioner

When one decides to get a Reiki treatment to help with the healing process, there are certain things that can be expected. If you are newer to the Reiki process, it is helpful to know what will happen when you meet with a Reiki practitioner to receive your treatment.

Most Reiki treatments will last from thirty minutes to one hour. This will vary by the practitioner that you decide to use, as well as what attunements they will be using with their Reiki treatment. Before you find a practitioner, you should look into the certifications they have that are Reiki related. This includes the traditional healing methods as well as different types of extra treatments they may have received.

When you go into a Reiki session, you will first be asked to lie on a massage table or set in a chair. Practitioners will make sure that you are comfortable when you lie on this table or chair. Any stiffness that is in your muscles will prevent Reiki from working to the fullest. When you are put in the room you will always remain fully clothed.

From here, you can expect the Reiki practitioner to move their hands to certain areas of your body. They may first sweep energy across your body in order to find blocks in your aura. Others may instantly place their hands on your body, where they have found energy blocks. The placement of the hands should never hurt, but only be a light touch.

Depending on the area of blocks, the hand placements may be in one area for the entire session or in a variety of different places. This will be determined by the practitioner, where they have found the energy blocks, and how long it takes for the universal energies to transfer through the chakras. During this time, you should feel relaxed. It is not uncommon for someone to fall asleep during the session.

Several practitioners will also use equipment in order to help with their sessions. Gemstones and aromatherapy often will accompany particular parts of a Reiki session. Many will also have music playing in the background, or will use toning instruments to assist with the change in energies. The use of these different tools will depend on the practitioner that you use as well.

Before you go into a session, or after your session is finished, you should always receive a question and answer period by the practitioner. Because you are going for a healing session, it is important for them to ask you questions about the state of your health both before and after each session. This will help them in determining where you need assistance as well as how well the session worked for you.

Every Reiki treatment that you go to should allow you to leave in a relaxed state of mind with a feeling of revived energy. Whether you decide to see a practitioner only once or through a series of visits, each time should help to open your chakras and relieve blocked energy so that you can begin to heal.
