Zodiak (zO.dE.ak")  In astrology, the zodiak is  zone in the heavens along which lie the paths of the sun, moon, and principal planets.  It contains twelve constalations and their twelve astrological signs. a Greek name given to the 'belt' of stars through which the planets APPARENTLY pass centrally through. The ECLIPTIC is the circle line on the celestial sphere (like an Equator), which lies in the plane of the Sun's APPARENT orbit around the Earth. The Zodiac then is divided into 12 parts called SIGNS or HOUSES: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, & Pisces. The in between of a House, is a CUSP. And these Houses or Signs are then part of an ELEMENT (count 1, 2, 3, 4 to place every 4th matching) - Fire, Earth, Air, or Water. Then you have POLARITY: Fire & Air = positive / Water & Earth = NEGATIVE. Further, Fire is opposite Air & Water, opposite Earth.

Zoomorphism (zo.o-mar'fiz. um)   This is the ability to change from human form into the form of an animal, often achieved by spells, incantations or supernatural means.

 

Zorya  The "Three Fates" in Slavic myth.  "Three little sisters, three little Zorya: she of the Evening, she od th Midnight, and she of the Morning" --i.e., of the old lunar calanders that figured the day from noon to noon.  Like the Norns, the Zorya kept the doomsday wolf fettered to the pole star: "Their duty is to guard a dog which is tied by an iron chain to the sonstellation of the Little Bear.  When the chain breaks it will be the end of the world."  An Egiptian prototype of the triple Zorya was the Goddess Reret, who kept the powers of destruction fettered by a chain.
