Colleen, from what I read now you’re not yet living below the poverty line like you said, but, will be when the time comes that you have only your own income to support yourself. Now I understand what you really meant.

I really don’t think any of us want to pay more taxes, and some of us, like yourself Colleen are not in a position to pay more, and maybe should be paying less. Although you haven’t said as much Colleen I suspect you would rather live in a more caring society. It’s the system as a whole that needs to be looked at. As Moonie suggested near the beginning of this thread, is the $130 billion going to the right place?

Just a few statistics here worth a thought:

  • The <st1:country-region><st1:place>USA</st1:place></st1:country-region> is the 6th richest country in the world
  • The <st1:country-region><st1:place>USA</st1:place></st1:country-region> has the highest number of billionaires in the world with 269 billionaires, the next highest country (<st1:country-region><st1:place>Japan</st1:place></st1:country-region>) has 29 billionaires.
  • Five of the ten richest people in the world live in the <st1:country-region><st1:place>USA.</st1:place></st1:country-region>
  • The two richest people in the world are from the <st1:country-region><st1:place>USA.</st1:place></st1:country-region>

That’s without looking at companies! All I’m saying is, look at the system as a whole. It looks to me like there’s plenty of scope for a re-jiggle?
