After partner's opening of 2NT what do you do with 0 points and a 5 cd Major ? Do you only offer it when you have a void or singleton, or are the odds in favour of a transfer succeeding anyway ?

The experts tell me to transfer--no matter what.
I believe the odds favor more tricks ( or fewer set tricks)  in 3Major  than remaining in 2NT.
The only way you can get some tricks out of that 5 card Major is to make it the trump suit.     The  risk is getting to a 4M contract ( when you wanted to "get out" in 3M ) if Opener "super accepts" with a max and 4 card support.
Certainly having a stiff or void increases your chances of actually making the contract.

Interesting. I only asked because "an expert" when playing at 'another place' told me I was wrong to bid.

Thank you for your support. I was fairly sure that I was not out on a limb. Now guess what happened. ! Partner refused the transfer having QJ bare in my suit and bid straight to 3NT. Opposition of course did not lead that suit and he ended up making the contract ! Some people are never satisfied !!
