Since were on balancing.....  How about the one 2 hands before that?   I was suprised how many  opened   west hand .... then how overcalled   2 C  ( I didn't  cuz  I  could hear Lorne and Leo   saying  the suit was not good enough)      We were  the only  ones  in 1 H      Sooooo  what is correct and should east balance  ?

I would balance with 1nt on hand 1(not vul that could be as little as 10 HCP) . I dont assume the opponents have game in another suit when they pass out 1H. I would dbl with hand 2.

west[not east] should balance with 2 clubs.
