From: gippo (Original Message) | Sent: 9/27/2002 9:01 PM | This was a hand form under 50 we never got to finish I was so happy I finally got to bid 2NT as usually there is interference and then opp booted I had planned to bid 4 Ds starting cue bidding..... Is that right and how would it go from there? or should I just bid 4nt ? Full Hand Contract : Dealer : Vul : West 1S | North P | East
2nt | South P
| 3S P ? | |

Gipp these are the openers rebids and what they mean... - Jump to 4 agreed major - minimum no slam interest
- 3nt - balanced hand 15-17 (some say this promises good trumps)
- 3 agreed major - 6+ suit - no singleton or void
(I think of these 3 bids as bad/better/best...with the best bid the cheapest bid) Then - 3 of a new suit is a singleton or void
- 4 of a new suit is a good 5 card side suit

Gipp, this is a Blackwood hand. You're in the slam range. The 5 level is safe. And you have a control in every side suit. If you should q-bid 4D and hear 5C from pd, you would have created a guessing game. |

Thanks Ross I think I should have titled this cue or Blackwood? I play 3 spade response as showing a King better than opener so I am thinking slam and wanted to know the best way to do it, I had thought cue bidding Pard thought blackwood Thanks Jo |
