ginny, unless partner refuses to play weak jump shifts 0-6 6+ suit, think ur a bit strong for a 2 bid,but then if your playing strong jump shifts your a bit weak.why not just bid 1 heart ?

It's certainy the case that weak jump shifts when not in competiton (ie by a passed hand) seem like a waste of time (Unless you are playing a big club system)...why preempt the opps when they aren't bidding.

Lots of people now play jumps by a passed hand as fit showing jumps...ie. a maximum with 10-11 hcps and a 5+ card suit and 4+ cards in partners suit.

There was a style that playing this jump was just a maximum pass with a 5+ card suit...but without a fit for partners suit if partner has opened light this may get the bidding too high. So the preferred method with these hands is now to make a 1 over 1 bid...if partner can't bid again you have lost nothing...if partner bids again depending on their rebid you can now bid game or issue a game invite.
