She's right, Morgann.     I was asking a general question, not a specific one.

And, Rusty, 1NT open with 2 doubletons?   I think it's a great bid, but thought it "not done?"

think opening 1NT with 2 doubletons can be done, but both should have trick potential-AX-KX.-AX-KQ.

I didn't say I liked it, but on this hand I would. I consider it the least lie.

Thanks to those that took the time to reply.  After reading Morgann's thread that perhaps people weren't answering because of who posted, it is the first and last time I shall ask a bridge question on this board.

LOL  , Merry  it was not personal because it was "Merry" who posted! It could be anyone not in the "club" We would get the same treatment or spell it incorrectly as wqho to BLAM :-)

This is one of my most unfavorite holdings in the minors cause whichever way I open it usually does not work out.  I just open what seems right at the time & pray.  And that is the real reason I didn't answer immediately.  I was hoping someone else would have a great solution to this dilemna so I could use it too.

Open 1D and rebid 2C. But then, I'm used to playing Precision so this seems normal to me.

But if you open 1D precision and rebid 2C, you arent going to have pard taking a preference to 2D holding 3 clubs and 2 diamonds.

Hey Merry, yours aren't the only bridge questions that seem to go unanswered, LOL.  I have two, each with 1 reply and both of those replies are by alansc.

why hurry with a good hand??

open the hand with 1 cl   after 1 sp   you rebid 2 cl!!!

when partner has 6 ponits , w/o rebiddable sp , you are in a good contract.
never be too greedy!!

in this case your P wil rebid 2 heart (non forcing!!!)telling  my spades are longer but have also 4+ h.  and NOW  you can show your extra by bidding 2NT which means ;P, even opposit your 6 pnts ,I think 2 NT can be made And of course I have dia!! and no support for majors.

As you P  I will  tell with 3 dia my hand   and now you can give up  and pass.

Against better knowing players continue bidding because (they mean) have too much points  and overlook that they have not enough tricks.

Rusty I love your 1nt opening. It also follows rule of 3 queens which says try to play nt with 3 queens. However, I learned that if I open 1d and rebid 2c I may be 5-4 or 4-5 which are equally likely patterns AND partner does not take a preference to 2d with 6-7 points and 3 clubs and 3d's or even 2c's and 2d's. The preference is taken only when dummy has 8-9 or more d's.

This must set a record for bringing an old thread back to life.
