Yes, I played and bid the hand as shown here only to receive message from my partner after hand that I should bid have opened hand 1 NT, (very scary). One thing I do notice playing online is that there is a certain lack of discipline. Bidding for this hand is so basic imho that it scares me as to what is standard anymore. I have played against one couple who in two of the last three games I have played their 2NT range stating 20-21 hcp has been opened with a 19 count. Contract always preceeded with good luck my dear. This tells me either they do not know the standard method to show nineteen count or they lack faith in their partner to recognize a forcing bid. Only time in the world the 2nt would be passed is if responder lied about 6 count originally and then it will still be right. |
