I am so sad to tell you all that Tim  ( B_T_R , Mr Mustard_2 ) died yesterday evening. He played the 1pm tourney,  was not feeling well, and laid down. When Babs ( babs_26 )  checked on him 5 minutes later he was already gone from what she presumes was a heart attack..

Tim was my oldest friend on the zone and I was his. We "met" by chance at the parlor in July 1998 where he taught me that an ace was worth 4 points, a queen 3 and so on. He was so very patient teaching me the basics of the game that he had been away from for years but was to become so much a part of his life. He lived then in Chicago. We met in person at the ACBL nationals here in Toronto in 2000 and at other bridge tourneys. He was always fun to be with whether here on the net or in person. I cannot believe he is gone. He left behind a lot of friends at the BC.

I, too, am so sad.  Tim was a friend, he loved the game and he will be missed by so many of us.  My deepest sympathy to Babs and to his children.

I am so sad and shocked by my friend's passing. It was my pleasure to have met and played a game of golf  and some bridge with Tim. His enthusiasim was rarely exceeded as witnessed by his web page which he shared with all. On more than one occasion it was a reference for students and myself to share.  We were planning to meet and have a game of golf or Bridge in February. Condolences to my friend Babs

Many's the time Tim helped me out with directing and director questions, and his handling of the team game he ran in the early days of the bc.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed

I am so sad to hear of Tim's passing........ Much too early.......
Tim was a very good friend to me. He spent a good year playing with me every day and teaching me his "brand " of the game  which he loved so much...... Many of you have seen it on his web site. He helped me in many ways other than bridge too. We became good friends. He was a caring  person with a quick sense of humor. And then he met Babs... How he loved her......
I will always remember him. And I send my heartfelt condolences to Babs and to his family. He will always be there as we continue to play on this bridge site watching over us.
I also thank him for the many friends I made that were his friends to begin with. They know who they are.
Linda Kirsch

This is so sad...

Tim was the person to get me involved in directing here.

And we had a lot of discussion about bridge topics and rkc in particular.

He was one of the best here.

The last time I played against Tim and Babs was the late tourney Tuesday night.  When we arrived at their table, I told them we needed to pick up about 30 Imps to break even so to hang onto their hats.  They told me they were in the same position and that it should be interesting.  I went on to say something about nothing working and they voiced they had had the same experience.  First board, I was in 4H and Tim cleaned my clock holding a stack....and said "I see what you mean, Maggie."  Second board, they beat us fair and square.  I don't think I could have lost to a finer person.

I, also, remember when we had one of those big guys vs gals games and Tim asked Fred Gitelmen to play with him and Fred accepted.  It was such a thrill for a very nervous Tim.

BC Memorial Tournament for Tim / B_T_R / Mr_Mustard.

A number of people have suggested a club memorial event / tournament in honor of Tim.

The B_T_R memorial event will occur at midday PST this Friday. Tim was one of the early volunteer directors in the club and the event he used to run was at this time.

As many of you have said, Tim will be missed.
I, like, Twofer, called him BLT and had it on our cc that way.
Can't say how shocked and saddened I was to hear the news, although it had been at least a month since we had "bantered".
We disagreed often over bidding, etc, but that was just our way.
Babs, take comfort in knowing he was loved by many, and will not be forgotten.

The first day I joined the Bridge Club my personal friend Maggie introduced me to Tim; he was the first of many new friends at the Bridge Club.  We played often, and soon learned that he was born two days earlier than I.  We often asked one another if the "other" Gemini was at the table when strange things happened.  It was like visiting with an old friend when I finally met Tim in person in Chicago; he, Babs, Mike (BDHP) and I played in a Regional Swiss in Wisconsin during that trip and had such a good time.  I miss him so much and send my deepest sympathy to all and most particularly the love of his life, Babs.  He will be forever in my heart.  Sigrid Price
