Bridge Club was Hal's whole world during the many months he could not otherwise participate in a normal life while he fought against cancer.. "They said he was a failure since He won nor eminence nor fame, And no one but his friends were stirred By any mention of his name.. Poor fools, they knew not how to guage The magnitude of his success.. He left his friends glad memories, And gave one woman happiness.." Goodbye Hal.. Jerry and Irene |

This week is a sad one indeed. Thank you for sharing that beautiful poem, Jerry and Irene. Hal will be sorely missed. I hope he and Cookie have found a game and they're making 7NT xxed, on a squeeze. |

Halbeck will be greatly missed at the bridgeclub. I must be one of the very few who never got to play as partners, although we did try, but one or the other of us was always busy. I was fortunate though, to have a chatted a bit a few times. My nickname reminded him of a lady he went to college with. Goodbye Halbeck Sincerely alta1 |

Thanks Jerry...I knew that you would be able to put into appropro poetry (altho it be with a heavy heart) a fitting tribute to Harold. And thanks also to you and Irene for the times that you made certain that he had a pard whenever/wherever he came on the computer...and the times that y'all brought him to the club. Our world is a sadder place...for he will be sorely missed by all who were so fortunate to have known him, his goodness, his wit, his twinkling blue eyes.....he is without doubt one of the finest men I have ever had the good fortune to have known. And how he loved the game of bridge! |

A legacy from Halbeck.. Hal rarely met a person he didn't like, But never spoke ill of those he couldn't.. Tho the former be improbable for most, The latter is surely a worthy goal for all.. |

Hal will be missed. After he was not able to play on the zone, I wrote to him that we had some great games, some good games and some not-so-good games, but we always had fun and enjoyed the play. The computer has given us so many windows of opportunity to meet good people in this world and Hal was one of them. I played with Hal often and I will miss his friendship here on zone. epace |

I also am sorry to hear about Halbeck. For those of you closer to him than I was, my sympathies. I will miss him. |

Thank you Jerry for expressing the feelings so many of us shared. Hal was very special to all of us who knew him, and it is sad that more didn't have the opportunity to get to meet him. I join you in celebration of his life, and grief at his passing. |
