Oldeboston

What a lovely tribute, from the heart.

Last week, I recall so vividly, LeDragon doing some carolling for us in the chatiline.  He set up a macro, and I can still hear Roy Orbison singing "Pretty Paper".  I even joined in on that one, that got a smile from LeDragon.  I guess he knew he needed to celebrate a little earlier this year with his friends at the bridgeclub.

I will miss the Oldeboston/LeDragon table very much.

Sincere condolensces to the family of LeDragon.

I shall always have good memories of Ledragon.....he was always friendly and polite to his opponents and, it was obvious, that he took joy in playing the game.  Peace, friend and know you are remembered fondly by the many friends you made at the Bridge Club.

It has finally ceased to amaze me how much one's personality comes across the wires and out on the chat line.  Few were as vivid as LeDragon and fewer still enlivened our group as much as he.  I  write this with very mixed emotions.  Swirling around in the sadness of loss is the delight of the remembrance of his wit.  I will always chuckle at the memory of "ENTER THE DRAGON!"  to some dramatic accompaniment or other.

Dave's death brings home to me how the folk of Bridge Club have become real to me.  The regret at never having had the pleasure of meeting him f2f reinforces my intent to meet my on-line friends in the flesh.  In my travels on business and to ACBL events I have met over a dozen and enjoyed their hospitality in places as diverse as Amsterdam and Sofia, Bulgaria.  Austraico and I managed a live game in Linz, Austria.   I have tried and will keep trying to add others to the list.

I offer this toast to LeDragon:

Now gone to his Good Night,
may all his scales hold tight.
May his fire burn as bright.
May his heart be ever light.

To whomever I meet in the future, the first round (beer or the beveridge of your choice) is on me, in memory of LeDragon.

Led and Olde were among the most beloved
of the teams of the original Ladder..
It was my privilege to enjoy both for many
years..

The game of life is hard to play..
And Led was truly a master..

Farewell, my friend..

Boys and girls that held him dear ,
Do your weeping now;
All you loved of his lies here.

Brought to earth the arrogant brow,
And the withering tongue
Chastened; do your weeping now.

Sing whatever songs are sung,
Wind whatever wreath,
For a playmate perished young,

For a spirit spent in death.
Boys and girls that held him dear,
All you loved of him lies here

--------Adapted from Edna St. Vincent Millay

I will miss Dave and his wit so very much.  No matter whether I won or lost against Steve and Dave, I always felt happy to have been able to spend time with them.  Thanks so very much, Dave, wherever your are.

Swoos

I vividly remember his carolling several days ago, and then he quietly disappeared, taking a piece of us with him on his journey.  Here's to more like him, we shall miss him greatly, both as gentleman and a funny wit.  Claire, Aces4Play

My heart is still sad.
I will remember you each time I sign into bridge.
I will remember your teasing and friendship, your
patience and encouragement.
When we were teammates for swiss teams.
When we were opponents for ladder matches.
I was proud to call you my friend.
I will miss you.

Dodie
