Play two rounds of trump. If West sluffs hearts, then North sluffs hearts. East has to sluff 2 diamonds. Then lead king of clubs to Ace. This puts the squeeze on East. If he sluffs a heart, the dummies 7 will set up after ruffing the 3 and returning to the board with the jack of diamonds. If West sluffs diamonds , then dummie has to sluff diamond and a heart. East has to keep his hearts. East cannot hold both the hearts and the diamonds so again, declarer has good tricks. Play jack of diamonds, ruff a heart and six of diamonds is good. It ends up, ruff a heart , play to jack and good heart or play jack, ruff a heart and good diamond. |

WF, West slufs QC on 5S and small heart on 3S. What does North pitch on 3S? |

I think Ace of clubs would work, PK. That keeps the sluffs of West before the sluffs of North. You still have entry to board with jack of diamonds. |

WF, almost got it. 5s and 3s, pitching 9D, then KC to AC. If W saves 2d + 1h, lead 7H smothering W's 6H and trump out E's 8H. Get back to N with JD for good 3H. So West must save 1d+2h. If E saves 2h + 1d. Cash JD, trump heart with 2S for good 6D. If E saves 2d + 1h, trump 3H dropping the 8H and get back to N with JD for good 7H. |
