The hands are:

AQ                            JT932
AKJ                          T9432
AKJT                        Q32
AKJT                        ------

you're playing 6NT, how can you secure the contract against any break?

2nd hand:

JT987                       AKQ
QJT98                      AK
864                           AKQJT97
----                           A

How can you find a way NOT to make 7NT? ( only 18 tricks on board)

Love
Yuval

I presume on 1 that whatever opening lead I got gave me a trick?  IE I was playing it from the strong hand?

A hearts...50 break offside.
J Hearts...Opps must duck or hearts are established.
Q spades...Opps must duck or spades can be established.
AKJ clubs....this forces the 12th trick!!!!!

#2 opps are cooperating. AD-6D, S-AKQ, H-AK. 7D to 8D. Play 5 more major cards pitching D-KQJT9. 13th trick, lead the 4D

Check back here soon. I have a 1999 Truscott calendar with some vicious problems. I will post a few later on, including one that I gave up on.

How not to make 7NT (2nd hand)   Play AKQ of spades, Play AK of hearts, Play Ace of diamonds then 7 of diamonds to the 8 on Board.  Then play top spades and hearts sluffing all your top diamonds.  Then play 4 of diamonds sluffing the ace of clubs.  It was tough.

# 1 ...looks too easy
-- Win lead with Diam  Ace
        --  Lead Sp Q ! ! !
If opp wins King you have 12 tricks:
                  4s, 2h, 4d, 2c

--  If opps duck Sp Q, then lead out Ht Jack ! ! !
If opp wins Ht Jack you have 12 tricks:
                  2s, 4h, 4d, 2c

-- If opps duck Ht Jack, then lead out Cl Jack ! ! !
If opp wins Cl Jack, then you have 12 tricks:
                  2s, 3h, 4d, 3c

-- And finally if opps duck the Cl Jack, that's your 12th trick off the top ! ! !
                 2s, 3h, 4d, 3c  .... giving up last trick to the Cl Q
