hey girls

okay well I am wondering if you have any other ideas on how to get B to eat his veges. We are having a horrible time with it atm.
I think he is off his food as it is cos of his cold but dinner time is awful in our place lately.
Janna, am I just imagining it or did you have trouble with Ella not too long ago?

I have tried so much, even just giving him his faves which now have seemed to lose their appeal as well and they are no longer wanted by him either.
I have tried, smothered in gravy, smothered in cheese sauce, tomato sauce, in spag bol, he doesnt even eat rissoles that I can hide them in.
Its really getting to me now. Half of the time he wont actually even try it anyway he just covers his eyes and whinges and the other half of the time he will put it in and then spit it straight out. Gosh I hate to say it but we have even tried punishment - putting him in his room and letting him come out and try eating it again (worked once and once only now its just an emotional tantrum chucking time till I give up) we have even tried force feeding him but that is just no use either.
We have even not been letting him have anything after tea and lately he has been crying during the night - even got up at 5am this morning and we wonder if its all related? All though he didnt eat any breakfast this morning either so I think it is just a really fussy thing he is doing...

Do you have any ideas? Should I just keep putting it there and hoping one day he will eat it again? Do you think its a phase?

Its gotten so bad that I am considering putting him on a kids multi vitamin because he isnt getting any veges and not much fruit....

What do you girls think?

I went to my playdate this morning with my friends and another friend of mine has a 2.5 yr old boy and I could remember her going thru this last year at about the same age and I had a talk to her and she told me what she did, which was basically just perservere and put it out for them to eat but at the age B is now its hard to use discipline which is also what she found cos they just dont seem to quite get that yet.
Also another friend of mine has a 16 mth old and she is also going thru it so feels better to just talk about it with others and know that your frustratedness and helplessness is normal iykwim.....anyway thats all I was gonna add I think.

Oh one more thing actually...she told me she put her son on a kids multi too, the same one I looked at which was pentavite, so I might actually google it later and look into it more and I have his 18mth health check next Wednesday so might see what they reckon too.

Oh Kel.
I know just how you feel.
YES Ella did this a month or more ago. She just wouldn't eat anything in the form of FRUIT or VEG.
Was so frustrating.
Thankfully it is just a stage.
Just keep perservering - even tho its so tough.
They are very stubborn, but soon realise that the food is good.

I hope he gives in soon and eats his vegies again. I would go a multi in the mean time- can only do him good.
Sounds like you have tried pretty much everything so I guess time is all that is left.
I know Soph is older but when she has gone off certain things before I first tried keeping on putting it on her plate and it didnt work but then i decided I would not give it too her and then everynight I would make a point of really enjoying the food she wouldnt eat. Then I would put it on her plate after a week or so and again make a point of saying mmm yum delicious when i ate mine. If she refused hers still I waited another week.
anyway I am sure it is just a stage. Soph loved bananas when she was little she could eat them all day but then suddenly hated them for months now she loves them again. She decided one day she hated potatoes and would refuse them unless they were hot chips lol or hidden mashed in with sweet potato. And then months of this and she tells me last week she likes potato again while i was cutting them up. She sat and dinner and ate them all. She has done this with heaps of stuff.
Anyway I know she is older but I am sure B will eat them again - good luck.

yeh I hope he gives in soon too but its not looking likely.
I tried to get a multi this morning but the chemists at the shopping centre were out of it. Hope that means its good! lol
I think I might do that Hayles what you did and just stop putting them there, I am wasting an awful amount of food atm cos he just flatly refuses it.
Oh well I now realise its seems pretty norm to go through fussy stages.
