Oh Kel how grr and annoying. I know exactly what you mean.
My mum does a similar type of thing - when she hears about God forbid someone elses grown child who did something that no mother would be proud of, but nothing major either she looks like whoa wow thats shocking isnt it. But I feel like saying ummm Mum have you taken a look at your own children or at least have you forgotton what they got up to only a few years back??
Its silly how they seem to forget or not realise or just choose to ignore.

Even though we try to be strong and not let situations like this get to us there is always a breaking point where you just can't help it hey?!

Don't mean to make this about me but even though my mum has come a long way with my sister there is still and I recon always will be Clearly different 'rules' my parents both have when it comes to me and the other kids and my sister. for eg. Mel still owes mum and dad thousands of dollars from gosh maybe 10 years ago and over the last 10 years they have lent her more but has she paid them back? NO. But Jake and I once borrowed money from my parents and we had every intention of paying it back asap which we did but I can tell you now they held it over us and made sure we understood we were to pay it back and we even set up a direct debit online from our account to theres so we didnt forget.
Then when I asked mum if she would mind minding Chloe for 6 hrs one day a week she had to first think about it then ask dad and she doesnt have a job at all - hasnt had a job for nearly 30yrs - wouldnt want to interupt her clothes washing day or omg even worse her bathroom cleaning day. Then dad asked mum to ask me if I was going to pay her. I complely ignored that as if I had of opened my mouth I would have blown up as mum minded my sisters son for FIVE years FULLTIME without so much as a cent and my sister treated her like crap the entire time.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

But yes our sisters seem to be able to hold some magic spell over our mothers and they seem to be blinded by there ways.
VERY annoying and upsetting too!
