The X Factor has announced the names of the 12 finalists who will go on to entertain us week after week on the all-important live studio shows.

We know a bit about them, but since we're going to spend so much time in their company, we can always know more!

The X Factor website brings you the contestants' official biographies (below).

In addition, we'll launch The X Factor finalist pages on Thursday which will boast exclusive video updates, and individual blogs.

Extreme new looks to be unveiled...

You may have heard a famous phrase from the cult 80s TV show Fame. It goes:

You want fame? Well, fame costs...and right here's where you start paying.

As far as the X Factor contenders go, the last sentence should end "...in beauticians bills". Although we're fairly sure there were substantial fees for nail polishing, body buffing, sun-tanning and smile-fixing as well!
 
Since they have returned from Judges' Houses, The X Factor finalists have undergone what we can only describe as a makeover of the most extreme sort!

Don't worry, we're not talking plastic surgery here - but the twelve golden-tonsilled hopefuls have been plucked, preened, dyed and highlighted to within an inch of their lives.

Simon's crack team of stylists, make-up artists and, um, dentists have swooped upon The X Factor house to ensure that each and every finalist looks as hot as they can when they step onto that big stage for the first time on Saturday.

And as soon-to-be released new photos of the contestants reveal, The X Factor boys and girls are looking mighty good!

Danny tucks into a new fitness regime...

Daniel Evans may be on a quest for musical success, but the X Factor contender is hoping you will see a lot LESS of him in the future.

The Spain-based singer is on a get fit quick campaign as he prepares to stand in The X Factor spotlight on Saturday nights.

He told us, "Since we moved into the house last Saturday I've been in the gym twice a day, and I've lost nearly a stone"!

"I've been eating healthily and so far the weight's come off easily - I hope. Either that, or the new scales I've been using at the chemist are half a stone out."

Danny's happy to be making progress on his healthy eating plan because he was so self conscious about his tum at Bootcamp it led to problems during vocal training. He told us, "I was having trouble getting the breathing right, and I knew it was because I was holding my stomach in"!

He explained, "The vocal coach Evie told me to push my stomach out when I hit a particular note, but I wasn't so sure. I was worried if my mum saw me she'd ring me up and say, 'Danny! You've gotta lose weight!'"

He joked, "I don't want people to think I'm a pot-bellied pig up there trying to sing".

"I know Barry White got away with it but I'm not sure I can!"
