I've tried everything from getting a new mattress right down to burning lavender candles before I go to bed. Does anyone have any suggestions. I won't take sleeping pills.

I think you need to find out what is keeping you awake, if its stress then you need to find something to calm you down before bed, have you tried a relaxing bath and maybe a milky drink before you go to bed.

You.can.try.going.to.and.getting.up..at.the.same.time.everyday...this.will.help.get.you.regulated
when.is.it.you.have.a.hard.time...getting.to.sleep,,,or.staying.asleep...dont.blame.you.for.
not.wanting.to.take.a.pill...thats.a.little.scary.to.me....get.lots.of.exercise.in.the.mornings.
I.hope.you.find.something...nothing.worse.than.not.getting.your.sleep...xx

I always get up between 5 and 6 am and usually go to bed around the same time. It is getting worse now and am waking up with pain in my back, legs and upper arms. I wonder if it's just age.

do you have something on your mind which is keeping you awake , worrying about something maybe. try ahving a nice soak in the bath before bed with some lavender bubble bath avon does a really nice one in the sleep therapy range of products, try moving the furniture around also sounds strange but i just could not sleep a few months back i changed the room around and hey presto .
