This was in my local newspaper yesterday and I thought it might help you quitters.....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To stay off the cigs you need to keep a strong and focused mind. Remind yourself that you are in control and keep a positive mental attitude. Focus on the benefits you are already experiencing:
DAY 1 - Your blood pressure has returned to normal and carbon monoxide has been eliminated from your body.
DAY 2 - Nicotine is no longer detectable in your body. Your skin is getting warmer and your sense of taste and smell have improved.
DAY 3 - This day may be the worst for withdrawal symptoms but be strong and remind yourself that things can only get better now. Once today is over, your symptoms steadily fade away.
DAY 4 - You may feel restless and empty - this is your body craving nicotine. Drink as much water as you can and keep healthy snacks at hand. Go for a quiet walk or go to the gym.
DAY 5 - Your breathing will be easier, your skin and eyes should be clearer and you should feel your energy levels improving. Get into the habit of relaxing, morning and night, using meditation.
WEEK ONE - Your sleeping pattern should return to normal. You may find you have a sore throat and are coughing more than usual as your lungs clear the debris that has built up over the years. This is a good sign.
WEEK TWO - Blood vessels all over your body are beginning to open up again and your circulation is improving. It will continue to do so for the next few months and your energy levels will quickly rise.
Hope this had given you some encouragement.
